Anyone else find it hilarious that the same guy who based a majority of his political ads on vehemently protecting our freakin car tags from being changed won’t give his position on the state flag?

Whether he supports a new flag or wants to keep the current one isn’t the point. The governor should have an opinion on the biggest issue going on in the state right now. Pick a side or look weak.

We all know he's in favor of the keeping our flag. The question is only this: Is he brave enough to stand up for it when it counts?

Or on the other side of this question, will he give in to ****** and the SEC, the NCAA, NASCAR, the intellectuals, elites, Sanderson Farms, Universities Athletic Directors, the MDA, and all of other folks trying to destroy our History?

Stand up, TATER MAN!!!

Doesn't this show how sad and pathetic the human race has become. All we can talk about it is the appearance of a flag, an item which has absolutely no impact on anyone's life. I can't believe with all the problems this state has, we are so focused on a useless/non-functional picture. This is lunacy...

Hopefully this was sarcasm.

If not, how is someone trying to destroy history? I think what is trying to be done is not honor a failed country that fought a war against the United States to keep people as property.

So I am assuming this was to just troll the thread? Or a really bad attempt at a joke?

Tate's silence on the issue -- in the face of intense and unified lobbying from the state's religious, business, and university communities -- is deafening and only confirms he is definitely for keeping the flag the way it is. His failure to provide any leadership whatsoever on this has now put him in the position of looking like both a coward and a racist. It is honestly embarrassing.

I would strongly suggest the Repubs start accepting resumes. He was a weak candidate to start with and I don't know how he could have handled this worse. Wonder if he and Drew Brees use the same advisor ?

You say it has no impact on anyone's life, yet people continually cite it as a visible barrier of economic and social growth.
Are all of them wrong, or do you not consider economic and social growth to be impactful on the lives of Mississippians?

You damn right it's deafening. He's gonna veto. Hide and watch as Tater Man is gonna lead as the SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!!!

You boys ever heard of succession? It's been a good run, but sometimes you just got to cut the cord.

And, like our winning President of the U.S. of A. says, "I never kid."

Now... I will do a little trolling.

That’s the sad and pathetic nature I speak of. It’s not a social or economic barrier, the dipshits blaming it are the barriers.

It's definitely pretty sad and pathetic that you can't see the significance of the Rebel flag on the state flag of the state with the largest percentage black population in the country.

No. I just don’t get all up in my feelings over symbols, statues, flags, etc.

Tate is hiding behind the fig leaf of "it should be a referendum, let the people decide". Becoming more apparent to me its a white hood not a fig leaf he's hiding behind.

Here’s what Tates doing. He’s hoping the legislature will take care of this for him, so he can’t veto it. He’s putting out vague messages so if / when the legislature forces a change, he can claim it wasn’t his fault and keep the significant portion of voters that would vote to keep the current flag.

He’s not going all in either way. Supporting change will hurt his chances to be re-elected governor. Supporting the current flag hurts him publicly outside of Mississippi. He’s going to continue to straddle the fence and hope someone else does this for him.

As well as he handled the virus mess, he’s done just the opposite and completely screwing this up. This is exactly why I didn’t vote for the guy. No leadership qualities.

You seem to be in your feelings at the thought of getting rid of it.

Perhaps if you were black, you’d understand why that flag is bothersome. Had the country that represented that battle flag gotten their way, black people would still be slaves. I personally don’t feel anything when I look at the flag either but I can certainly understand why people do.

Right. Because I have argued for keeping the flag..... Reread my posts, Mr. Magoo. I’m indifferent because I don’t give a 17 about a flag. The new flag could depict Bill Cosby diddling Sleeping Beauty, and I wouldn’t be able to care less.

I simply think it’s sad that a flag is getting this much attention. After it changes, everyone will go back to their lives, unchanged. And where was Kylin‘s passion for change a month ago?......

This is exactly right. He’s looking for a way out. He doesn’t wanna piss off the people that he promised and gave his word to that he would let the voters decide. When asked in the media yesterday what he would do if the legislature passes this, he said it would do no good to veto it because they can override his veto. The media gave him an out. They should have put him on the spot and asked “but, you could veto it symbolically just show where you stand - would you do that?” He needs to be put on the spot but no one‘s done that. I’d make him answer the question. Additionally, I think deep down he doesn’t want to be the governor who was presiding over the state when Mississippi lost its flag. While he could see that as a hallmark of his candidacy, I think he sees it more as a failure that he couldn’t keep it when all those before him did so. He’s a little ego maniac is what he is.

So if they replaced the battle flag with #BlackLivesMatter you’d be fine with it?
