13 counties now have a state imposed mask mandate and a crowd limit (10 indoor 20 outdoor). If Tate thinks this will limit the exposure and spread of the virus, why not do it for the whole 17ing state you stupid piece of ****. Doesn’t make any 17ing sense
Another thing is the crowd size of 10 indoors and 20 outdoors. As a teacher in one of the affected counties, I guarantee you he will lift the ban the week schools start back. He’s not going to be the one to essential force schools in 13 counties to do distance learning. He’s too big of a coward to make any type of decision like that. We need to get back to the classroom and his as is preventing that

What this has also done is 17 up our football workouts. Can only lift 10 at a time and can only have 20 other kids outside in groups. We get penalized while most of the state gets to do things somewhat normally. Make it a state mandate you piece of ****

What I find to be amazing is all of the teachers and teachers unions stating that they are against opening the schools due to high danger of COVID. Yet the same people would have a stroke if Walmart was closed because all of their workers decided it was too dangerous. Let's not forget they have not missed a day this whole time. Same cashiers and same stickers there every day. I guess that job is worth risking your life over but our kids are not

Most teachers can deliver quality content to most students online. Only Amazon is half *** capable of delivering groceries. Teachers also know that those nasty little ***** pass viruses around like Chinese bats... Hell, mine have been stuck at home for months and I am convinced they're in the backyard digging up **** to discover something new just to get me sick since they haven't been able to lately.

Your point of the retail workers is not mentioned enough. They could be at home collecting big money unemployment and choose to work. If for no other reason, everyone should where masks inside the stores for them.

Next stimulus package should give a $1000 a month to everyone that worked in grocery stores and hospitals etc for the last few months. Sorry, I know most people have "essential" jobs and worked throughout, but those 2 groups really did put themselves in harm's way compared to the rest of us.

Tate Reeves is a fool. I voted for him in every election so far, NEVER again. His response to this has been terrible.

There was something I had drilled into me many years ago in school to learn my job. The people do not have free will to overrule your professional knowledge. If you allow them to do it you are liable to them for damages. That is iron clad in court. Tate is liable.

Most teachers can deliver quality content to most students online.
But can most students actually receive a quality education online? We’re not talking about adults and college kids here. We’re talking about young kids who have an attention span of 3 minutes max. They can barely pay attention in a live class. Now put them in their home where toys.
I'm wondering when teachers will be considered “essential”. They are. They need to embrace the same attitude healthcare workers and first responders have. The world needs them. The kids need them.

You’re confusing politicians oaths and the responsibility expected of healthcare workers. When’s the last time a politician was successfully sued in court for doing their job? (Benghazi should come to mind if it doesn’t.)

No. And for a myriad of reasons.....

But can most students actually receive a quality education online?

1) connectivity issues
2) so many homes both parents work, leaving some students to their own devices as you described
3) some parents/guardians are not capable to ensure the student does the work properly and/or just do not care what they do.

Sadly, 1 and 3 are probably the biggest barriers.

Why do we have a problem with 'wear a mask' but not 'No shirt, No shoes, No service'? You don't see people acting a fool because they have to wear a shirt in a store.

Because Trump isn't walking around shirtless.

When he starts showing those pecs, expect a revolution against McDonalds and their communist No shirt, no shoes, no service signs.

If private businesses want to mandate mask wearing (akin to the no shirt/no service rule), so be it. The obvious distinction (obvious to most people), however, is that the government does not mandate shirt and shoe wearing.

I just told you I was a teacher and wanted to go back to school. Idiot.

From what I can tell, a huge majority of teachers are in your boat. They recognize that while they are in a tough position, it's not really different than say retail workers, although they are probably at a higher risk of exposure than most other essential workers besides retail workers. Like everybody not fortunate enough to have a job thtey can do remotely, they have to choose between doing their job and taking exposure or quitting and trying to find something else. None of them are pumped about it, but the ones I know believe in what they are doing and know that it would be disastrous for a lot of their students if they didn't have school.

But there is a vocal small minority that make the rest look like *** hats, and want to get paid but not actually do the work. And of course the unions tend to be dominated by that type, so a lot of unions are making statements that are probably not reflective of actual teacher sentiment but that people interpret as that.

Dont know why people couldnt see through Tatertot when he was Lt. Gov. He cannot make a decision and stick to it unless his idol Trump has said to do it, then when things get bad he makes a halfass one
and says he is gonna pray over it. Evidently the word Repulican after his name on the ballot was all he needed to get elected.
