The kind of guy who uses silly derogatory nicknames for rival fanbases is the exact same guy as the one who goes all sour grapes on a prospect who chooses another school. The maturity level is the same. There were precious few on rafters who've had anything bad to say about Bolden beyond "why is he taking so long?", but the few who did are the kind who say "puke" instead of "Duke", call K "ratface", or would say "corrup rafters" (sic) if they were a fan of somebody else.
Sour grapes?!! What sour grapes. If bolden goes to UK that's fine. Duke will be just fine without him. If it bothers you that much, I won't use derogatory names toward rival fanbases. I was just having fun. Sorry about that.

Am I right about this? K likes to go small from what I've seen, and I would bet a freshman Bolden would be 8th or even the 9th player. Yes I'm a Kentucky fan. Just wondering how many on here think K would actually start him or even bring him in as the first or second player off the bench because I don't think he would.
Funny a UK fan trying to determine OUR lineup for next season.

All Kentucky posters viewing this thread. Trust that what I say is true. I'd like to have Bolden, but if he goes to Kentucky, there will be no sour grapes here. He needs to go where he's happy. His going to UK seems to be churning into our demise somehow. You and I both know that is BS. Duke has an incredible class coming in with or without Bolden, one that can easily make a title run. So if you land him, congrats. See you in the Final Four.

Looking at this from a roster standpoint, we don't "need" Bolden, due to our outstanding talent and depth coming in. In the past, we have NEEDED many of our players - example Amile 2015.

I don't believe that Bolden will be able to fully showcase his skills at Duke or UK next year, due to them already having the 2 most talented rosters without him. I am not 100% sold that he will start at either place either.

I want Bolden for many reasons, but at the top of the list would be A. He isn't suiting up for UK next year and B. Landing Bolden will show future 5-star big men that UK isn't the only place to go. That Duke develops future pro's just as good as UK, and if Okafor isn't enough evidence, than Bolden will be.

I've resigned myself - some time ago, in fact - to the fact that he's going to UK. Won't be too worried. We should still be a fun team to watch next year and quite good.

great if he comes, but more development for chase/javin/vrank if he doesnt
If we want a title in 2017, which we all should, than I don't see how more development for Vrank and Javin will help that. Down the road, sure, but I WANT A TITLE MAN.

Jeter I expect to be leaps and bounds better next year, and I read nothing but good things about Javin, but if we are good as advertised, I don't expect him to get anything more than mop-up minutes.

As a UK fan, and one who respects Duke, I agree with every word of your post .IMHO there is Duke and UK then everyone else tries to follow, see you guys in the final four. I'm sure we will give the folks a good show.

IMO, a healthy Amile and Harry means we don't necessarily need big production from Jeter, Javin and Vrank to win a title. That also means if they can get some development on a championship squad, then we will be that much better for the next 3-4 years.

Actually, I had a great slice of taco pizza in Chester last week. Big one too! I ordered a slice of Buffalo chicken with it and could barely finish. Both were big slices. In the strip mall. Tina's or some girl's name like that.

Once again, if Harry and Amile are healthy, there is little need for Bolden unless he plays like a top 10 guy or Jeter really disappoints. With any injury to any big, Bolden really helps even if he doesn't exceed expectations. IN the end, who knows? Seems like a great kid and we should never mind waiting for a great kid.

I've been talking to several folks from this board and beyond about Bolden. I like a lot of things about him but even if we get him, his foot speed greatly concerns me. The last 3 or 4 games I watched him play in, he's slow to get down the court. Slow to get into position and slow to adjust to shifts. Now once he is in position he seems to defend or attack well. My worry, we are going to be high speed low drag this season. It will be a killer pace for him. Anyone realizing yet how fast our offense is getting down the court this season with the likes of Giles, Tatum , Jackson, Allen, Jefferson, Kennard , Jeter...... Jeeesh!

Agree with everything you say. However, we won't be asking Bolden to play 35 minutes a game to where he gets worn down.
Depending on how good he is (which I don't think anyone really knows) he should play anywhere from 20-28 MPG, and I would expect him to be able to give maximum effort during those minutes.

Not to beat a dead horse, but without a true PG, I don't think we will be playing at a killer pace, we will play fast, but we aren't gonna be leading the nation in scoring.

I'll be happy when he makes up his freaking mind. Tired of talking about the different ways food comes. By the way. What does everyone like on their ice cream sundaes . The way I like them is with 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream, abundant crushed pineapple, chopped honey glazed pecans, chocolate syrup, 3 or 4 maraschino cherries, and Redi-Whip topping lots of it of course. I can see the absence of a true point guard leading Duke to play more up-tempo, trying to convert every opportunity into a fast break before the defense sets up and forces Duke to run its offense without a true point guard.

My thoughts exactly. A point guard is more needed in the half court, not in transition. Allen is fully capable of catching an outlet pass.
So are Tatum, Jackson, Kennard and Giles. So i agree and that was my thinking as well.

The fact is we won't know for sure until he gets here and is adjusted to the Duke system but I think Frank Jackson is going to be fine as the pg/sg for our team next year. Just like pure centers as they were defined back in the day so is it with pure pg's. There are just not that many and my definition of pure pg and center using former Duke players as examples are Bobby Hurley and Mike Gminski although Jahlil and Tyus are really close. Once again Frank is going to be fine with help from Grayson, Luke and Matt. Thornton would have been given every opportunity to be a key player also IMO. OFC

Duke is fortunate to have a lot of "shot creators" that will largely alleviate the lack of a true PG. Guys like Allen, Tatum, and Giles (and to a lesser extent Kennard and maybe even Jackson) can create their own offense. They don't need "set-up men," and in the case of Allen and Tatum, it actually works against their offensive strengths a little bit.

Speaking of Maui has anyone ever gone to a "pig pickin" ? It's sort of a take off on cooking a whole pig in the ground and it may be a southern thing. Here a pig is split and cleaned the put on a large grill. Basically the pig is cooked for several hours using hickory wood ashes if done the proper way. Been to a few in my lifetime. Usually the ribs are done first an if you are lucky and are on site you can munch on some fall off the bone ribs. Once it's done diners go up and cut off what they want whether it may be ham, shoulder, tenderloin or any other part. You then put on homemade BBQ sauce either vinegar or tomato based. I haven't had any that I didn't like. You then grab some hush puppies which are like deep fried corn bread nuggets. You spoon up some sides like potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans and if you are really lucky some one will have brought some "nanner puddin. " Wash it down with your favorite beverage and what an experience. I'm sure Show, Heyman25, dirt, gotta, buckin and the rest of you natives from here can vouch for this. If you are ever invited to one make sure you go. Make sure it's a pig pickin and not just someone cooking shoulders which is also a treat but nothing like a pig pickin. OFC

I did pig roasts for five years when I was in grad school , usually two 70 pounders. The hardest thing was keeping drunks from attacking the pig before it was done and getting trichinosis. One friend always went for the head and ate the brains right out of the skull. What a man. Another friend supplied the potato salad, in a bathtub. Oh, the good old days.

Thanks Will. This off season was going pretty well and then you had to mention your brain eating friend when the rest of us were simply mentioning foods we enjoyed. Now I am scared of drinking, any kind or barbecue, and who knows what else. Thanks an F ing lot!

You just have to be careful from what part of the pig you pick from. Just stay away from the area between the hams. OFC
