Dang, I just realized I had been dyslexic reading your board name for several months - I thought it was "Pennyshusker." I moved to State College last summer start a job at PSU. If I had any visceral connection to PSU football, I could be enjoying a Big Ten championship right now. But I don't, so I'm not.
Are there Husker fan clubs in the area that hold watch parties during the season?
I don't know if there are any Husker fan clubs in or near State College where you are. State College is probably about two and a half hours from me. I know there are some Husker groups in Philly that I met once in a while. And I used to live near Allentown and at one time there was a Husker group there but it kind of fell apart. There are none near me now in Wilkes Barre. The odd thing is, is that many of these groups seem to have met their demise as soon as we joined the B1G and you could watch every game on TV on the B1G network at home. I know one of the reasons I would meet with the Allentown group was we went to this particular bar that would tune in its Satellite dish to pick up Husker games for us. You pretty much had to go to a friendly bar like that one to watch most games before we were in the B1G. Try getting a local PA cable or Dish company to put "Fox Sports Net" Big 12 coverage in their package! But once we joined the B1G everyone just stayed home. Sad
I will start checking around again and see if there are any.
And no problem about the dyslexia thing! A lot of people on here call me "Penny" as a shorthand so I think you are not the only one who seems to miss that it is "Pennsy".
I know what you mean about no connection to PSU. I have lived in PA now since 1994. And yet I feel zero connection to any of the teams out here, college or pro. I am still a boy from Lincoln at heart....
Maybe we can get together someday this season and watch a game. I have a good friend who is a huge PSU fan who can get tickets. But I am sure, given your status as a PSU employee, that you can too. So maybe we can all meet and go to the PSU-NU game this Fall in State College.
