They're desperate to rationalize it as anything but Calipari not getting it done. Kentucky made their Faustian deal to get Calipari. They justified it because their program was getting routinely out-recruited by everyone. Duke, Kansas, UNC... Memphis? Yeah. They knew what they were getting. Thus, every season hinged on Calipari's ability to "reload" (his words) and every recruiting battle became immensely important. If he failed to pull in a "Fab Five" class, it was seen as a failure. Now, Calipari has seen two players transfer from his squad for the coming season. They failed to get Bolden... which stings their pride even more than whiffing on Kennard. Admittedly, it's funny to watch.
I love it, because anything less than a #1 or 2 class, and they are probably NIT bound. Sucks when all you have to celebrate is the annual "which one of our guys gets to go to the 76ers" sweepstakes. I like where we are.
