Varnado obviously is the MVP but after that I think I would have to go with Phil Turner. He has come up big in all of our wins and gives us everything he has.

The way you have stood behind this team with your optimism and positivity has been an inspiration to this team and many fellow readers. Since we know players read these boards, you have no doubt been there to pick them up when they were down. You gave them hope, you gave them pride and inspiration.

You, Hanmu, are indeed this team's MVP

I actually disagree. I think Phil is the MVP with Jarvis as a close second. I think that Osby is not ready to play PF, and that having Phil on the court hasnt been as big of a disadvantage to us as i had originally thought it would be. He keeps us in alot of games by hitting shots when we start getting down and he is the guy that keeps the double team away from Jarvis. Phis is my MVP.

You don't really make a strong case with that statement.

With the lack of a TRUE leader on this team, which in time I think Bost could develope into, I think you HAVE to go with Varnado as the MVP.

As to the original question, 3 weeks ago, I would've said Ravern, no questions asked, but what in the hell has happened to him?? It's not just a matter of his shot being off... he's off, as in off the court! WTH??

A fan who doesn't blather on and on about living a dying by the three ball or not making Sweet 16's. You two dipshits are so busy looking for faults in our team that you don't even enjoy the wins. Did either of you expect us to be where we are right now at the beginning of the season?

We beat SC with rebounding and defense, something we have not been doing this year...
This team still relies on perimeter shooting to win, and Stans still can't get to the Sweet 16, those are the facts..
Time will tell about this team and Stans... I hope we win out and make the NCAA and to the Sweet 16..
I just don't buy the Kool-aid some of you are always selling .......

Preseason- 2006 sixpack sheep- "Stans will have us back in the Tourney. It doesnt matter that we lost all our starters and have all these Freshmans. Stans is the best coach in the SEC and will work his magic. No way in hell Peaches this team will start the SEC 1-8, and we will cuss you in a 5 page thread to prove it!!"

Postseason- 2006 sixpack sheep
- "Nobody expected us to make the NCAA Tourney with all these Freshmans. No coach in the SEC could have coached this team as well as Stans did. Even though we didnt make the NIT, we will be in the NCAA's next year. And you just got lucky with your prediction"

Preseason- 2007 sixpack sheep- "Stans has all these fantastic Sophomores. Rhodes is a beast. No way this team doesnt make the NCAA's. Stans is an outstanding coach and he will show all of you."

Postseason- 2007 sixpack sheep
- "We made it to the Final Four of the NIT for pete's sake. What more do you want? We tied for the West championship- and Stans did it with a young team of Sophomores!!! Next year this team could be Sweet 16 or Elite 8 material. And Gary Ervin didnt thrive, just because he beat us 2/3, led his team to the SEC Tourney championship game, was conference POW twice, and made the NCAA's doesnt mean he thrived"

Preseason- 2008 sixpack sheep- "17 the Delks!! We dont need them. They left because they werent going to play much. This team is loaded and could very well make an Elite 8 run. Gordon and Rhodes are unstoppable and Stans is the best coach in the SEC West. We have a good schedule to help us get a high seed in the NCAA's"

Postseason- 2008 sixpack sheep
- "We won the West!! We played Memphis close. What more can you expect out of our program? We know losing those early OOC games hurt our seeding, but Stans had to lose those to make this team gel. We played Memphis close!!!"

Preseason- 2009 sixpack sheep- "We have a young, talented team. Who cares about Hansbro? He wasnt going to play much anyway. Osby and Bost are going to start. They are that good. Stans will coach them up. The SEC is so weak, we could easily win it again. No way this team does worse than 8-8 and 10-6 isnt out of the realm. We have an easier OOC schedule to get some wins and build confidence. This team could easily slip into the NCAA's"

Late-season- 2009 sixpack sheep
- "Nobody expected this young team to compete for anything!! Its amazing what Stans is doing!! This 4-guard invention of his this year is the best thing ever!! Well, we know he did it with Slater 2 years ago, but we mean it works now cause we have guards than can shoot. Stans is doing a helluva job. Nobody else could possibly do this good a job at State"

How is saying that we still have a chance at the NCAAs with a team that was picked 5th in the West drinking Kool-Aid? Not being pessimistic is not the same as drinking Kool-Aid. I just prefer to enjoy the wins and not ***** about whether or not someone got enough playing time or if we played too much zone defense. If we win then none of that crap matters. There are no style points.

That massive amount of BS has my computer smelling. Putting quotes around something does not make it fact. I am too lazy to look it up but the dumb crap you have spewed all over this board over the years could fill up a computer screen the size of our Jumbotron at Davis-Wade.

we did play Memphis closer than anyone. We lost by 3. They beat everyone else in the tourney by 20+.

All that other **** you typed is complete and utter horseshit. I never read any of that on here to the degree you are saying it. You are taking general statements, exaggerating them to the absurd, and putting quotes around them and stating them as fact. You've totally outdone yourself this time.

none of that is true- Meo

well, we did play Memphis closer than anyone and I did say that, so thats true come to think of it. But nothing else is...i just pointed out that I said the Memphis thing because it makes my hero Ricky look better. Moral victories are huge for him these days. But i'm not going to admit to any of the other true stuff cause it makes my man look bad. Cause even though I got on Coach for making me look like an idiot in 2006, i was able to fend him off with "I'm just supporting my team...whats wrong with being optimistic?" That'll show that mean Coach...yeah-Meo

And the 2009 year of Sixpack revisionist history in basketball is near completion.

What do you have to ***** about this season? We were just hoping we could snag an NIT bid at the start of the season. That was the best case scenario for most on here. Here we are now at 17-9 and 7-4, tied for second in the entire SEC and still alive for an NCAA bid. Are you so retarded that you can't see why a State fan would be happy with our season thus far? You are like one of those guys that sees a beautiful girl and gripes about the mole on her ***.

I think one could make a case for Ravern being the team MVP as he has won a couple of games for us this year, so he's at least worth mentioning. But Jarvis would be the other candidate if not Ravern in my opinion.

That might be true. I don't think he's the best player on our team as of right now, but he could be the most important.
