I wish I'd learned Spanish. I took through Spanish III and tested out of IV. I've retained a little bit and brushed up from time to time, but it would be helpful in my line of work to really know it.

I also regret not taking Latin with Dr. Wolverton. I heard he was awesome.

More road trips to away games

More road trips to see national parks (several big ones are on my bucket list and life stage will put off seeing them now for a long time)

Invested some of my partying money in Apple and Microsoft

Hunted a little more - kidding. Not possible

ETA: work more often for the Miss MS Pageant in the summers. Only did it once. One glorious week. What an idiot.

Let me make you physically ill for a moment...

I graduated in the spring of '03. If I had spent $20 less per week for four years and just put it in a simple checking account, then on my graduation date bought all the Apple Stock I could, I would have $190,000 today. Actually, I just wouldn't have a house note. 17 you, Flo and Eddies. (Save $30 a week and it jumps to $285,000)

I should have taken myself less seriously. I should have stayed at only one degree. I should have not gone to graduate school. I should have not done the whole fraternity thing. I should have been less stupid at 18-20 years old.

I was there when Google was still pretty much just know by ivy heads. Still remember my prof saying in 98 you need to get in on this company. Should have listened.

that one haunts me every day

I graduated in the spring of '03. If I had spent $20 less per week for four years and just put it in a simple checking account, then on my graduation date bought all the Apple Stock I could, I would have $190,000 today. Actually, I just wouldn't have a house note. 17 you, Flo and Eddies. (Save $30 a week and it jumps to $285,000)

I was doing my graduate degree right outside the silicone valley, in Santa Cruz (started in 1994). My brand new wife and I were offered the opportunity by her father to buy a house out there and live in it until graduation (5 year degree) and then sell it, and keep any profits. It would have been the same cost as rent out there, and we could have gotten a two-bedroom for around 300K. During that 5 year stretch, house prices more than doubled because of the dot-com boom. That's a nut-kicker.

We also started a stock fund at that time, and I was buying shares of apple at anywhere from 25-40 dollars a share, usually 5-8 shares a month. At that time, Microsoft was actually subsidizing apple to keep them afloat, so that they wouldn't be sued for having a monopoly. I was an apple geek. I finished school in The Fall of 2000, and we needed money to move, so we sold it all in November of 2000 (post-bubble burst) for 20 bucks a share. There had been a 2 for 1 stock split, so I had about 700 shares at the time. My new wife was so proud of me for having that stock to sell at the time. That would have been worth close to a half million about now.

I was 32 when I got to MSU, so I think I did about as much as I could during college to enjoy it. I wish I had not double majored in similar majors and spent the time working on learning more about the graphic arts, or finished quicker and went for a MFA somewhere else.

If I had one wish it would have been that I had spent more time figuring out how to go to school without having to borrow so much. Even though I was only making 8 grand a year, I had to borrow most of my school cost because I was too lazy to chase down scholarship money.
