I wonder how Cuonzo Martin feels this morning after he did all the whining and moaning about the number of SEC Men's basketball teams making the Big Dance. Mercer (Atlantic Sun Conference) beat their asses last night in the first round of the NIT.
That's a ******** excuse. I know it happens, but if you're worth a ****, you'll play well. A lot of bubble teams do. 3 of the 4 #1 seeds won and 2 of th 4 #2 seeds won. 2 of the 3 exceptions were Kentucky and Tennessee.
It seems pretty simple to me. Most years, there are teams who barely miss out on the NCAAs who go into the NIT and lose in the first round as #1 seeds. You wouldn't expect to have any #1 seeds lose in most years and very few #2 seeds considering they have a home game. Whether its a ******** excuse, caused by bad coaching, or whatever, it happens.
That a number of other #1 and #2 seeds do win home games against inferior opponents doesn't prove the opposite point.
Point is, MOST teams on the bubble out won their games handily. Like I said, it does happen. And it's a ******** excuse for losing. If you were worth a ****, you'd have manned up like most of the other teams in your position did.
