Latest D1 poll has UT at #4 and State at #8. Why is there such a big difference? Same conference record in the same conference, and the metrics are nearly identical.

I would get having Tennessee a spot or two above us, but there seems to be a narrative that UT is head and shoulders above State in the pecking order, which I don’t understand. I guess you could say they won their division, but are you going to punish State because they happen to be in the same division as Arkansas?

As long as we're a national seed I don't think it matters. I hope we get a chance to play them because I think we're better than them.

If I had to guess its because they only lost two series and those were to Vandy and Ark. Though their OOC is not real impressive. We lost 3 including Mizzou. I think sequence/timing plays an unintentional role too. Swap the time of our TX showcase with the Mizzou series and we are probably top 4.

It’s the Mizzou series. Had we not lost that series we’d be pretty much a unanimous Top 5 team. I think everybody realizes we played pretty much our worst baseball that weekend and are way better than what we showed, especially after we responded by pretty comfortably sweeping Bama on the road. But the Mizzou weekend is dragging us down a little bit.

Could be wrong but if we win Wednesday I think we may win the tournament this week, or at least get to the championship. I think we are the best team on our side of the bracket, including Tennessee.

The losses dont matter as much as when you took the losses. Those Mizzou losses hurt

Not just when, but who. Losing 2 of 3 to Missouri is 2 BAD losses. Tennessee has only 1 loss below Quadrant 2. We have 3.

Yep, our entire team decided to take the weekend off just two weeks ago, and now we’re getting punished for it. Did that series end the season, and is it likely going to matter much in the grand scheme of things? No, but most of us suspected that a display like that was highly likely to affect postseason seeding, and here we are...

Some are having a difficult time grasping just how bad that series loss was, and the timing certainly didn’t help

TN played a weak SEC schedule. As weak as possible anyway. They'll get exposed and beaten in a super if they win their regional.
