Not sure if Germans...but wanted to get some thoughts on these new TN uniforms. Also, have we ever made a video for anything to this quality?

Not sure if the "Smokey" name is coming from Adidas/TN or the media. I do like the textured look on the shoulders like the other Adidas schools.

and no

edit: Im 99.9% sure thats an Adidas video though. Which goes right along with what I was saying about them giving other teams (.ie A&M) fanfair vids, but not us.

/Im ready to drop them.

I'd like to see us go with UA. They seem to think outside of the box but don't get too crazy with uniforms...except MD of course.

Isn't UA responsible for the camos that USCe uses?

Woof.

But I think they do Auburn's too and those don't suck.

Keep the current Maroon on Maroon lid with MState logo and the Rocky lid for special occations, scrap Adidas and have Nike start over on the design of our unis.

I like the maroon, white, and silver palate. I just think Nike reaches further with the utes. Also, our contract is in a major need of restructuring. I think we are getting short changed.

...but I recently spoke with someone who's husband was affiliated with Auburn's program. Adidas treats us very well in the regard of getting free apparel and gear for the whole University. (Think Alumni Association, SA, etc.) I believe that was one of the big reasons we signed with Adidas.

I don't know the numbers behind it or anything but it seems like these videos and media put out by Adidas are at their discretion, not necessarily in the contract. It's like they choose they cash cows and give them special attention. Does anybody know and I am just way off with that assumption?

I do like UA's style and approach to design but maybe the reason we haven't gone to them is the $$$$.

Nope. We need a serious overhaul in the athletic video department. We are pathetic in that regard.

AGREED!!! Personally I think UGA, Auburn, and Bama...followed by LSU have great "in game" videos. I'm not sure about the hype videos etc that their athletic depts put out. I hate to say this but a lot of Ole Miss's stuff is SICK.

UA is very selective in their schools

and as long as Walker Jones is a higher up there, don't hold your breath that we would have the opportuinty to partner with them.

I like Adidas. Especially their basketball shoes (AdiZero Crazy Light) and the basketball uniforms they've been putting out. They gave MSU some special gear for the CWS so I thought that was cool too. I'd just ask them to give us and aTm different unis. We've been with Adidas for a minute now. We don't want to be known as the school that changes affiliation all the time. We already pissed off Nike.

Define "very selective". More schools, especially an SEC school that will be on television every single game against some of the best teams in the land, would be a great marketing tool and just give them more revenue and props.

UA would love to have us, don't even try to think otherwise. To not want a school because of rival affilition is as dumb as people boycotting outback because of the bowl snub.

Businesses are in the business of making money, and State would bring that to any vendor.

Not only no but HEEEEEEEELL no. We'd be better off duct taping cardboard with tacks poking out the bottom to our players' feet than wearing UA cleats. As someone who worked at Dick's back in the day and dealt with UA vendors, all they care about is looks. Hate on Adidas all you want (I'm with you), but their products are the second best in the industry... then a big drop-off and then UA.

Nike is so cool they can make the same uniforms for every school but change the colors and they'd STILL be cool. Adidas tries so hard to make up ground that they step on some schools in the way... like MSU.

I'm for dropping Adidas, but to be honest there isn't a better option for MSU since we burned that Nike bridge. Perhaps we could threaten to go to UA in order to get Adidas to give us an account manager who gives a ****? I don't know. I'd be pretty pissed if we went to UA, so that seems like a huge risk.

I'd be for being the only school in the US who reps Reebok. I was a fan of them when they were the NFL brand and I've only become a bigger fan with all of their new shoes. Their cleats are bad ***. It's a subsidiary of Adidas, so I'm not sure how that would work... but that would be awesome.

On the other hand, 18 year olds love UA... so maybe that would help in recruiting. Hard to imagine that when Ole Miss has Nike, but weren't their fans mad they didn't move to UA last season when they had the option to?

I don't always agree with the Adidas uniforms. But I would rather be one of their top accounts then be somebody Nike could careless about.

Nike burned their bridge with us the home game vs Oregon.

Thats the point though... We are NOT one of Adidas top accounts.

They give A&M this:

And give us 5 pics of some guy wearing crimson on twitter (one of the worst photoshops ive seen EVER):

Point is, they don't give two ***** about us. 17'em. Strick needs to nut up and go back with Nike. And im not talking about old logos or old unis. As I said, keep the current helmets and redesign the unis.

edit to add: Now that ive put the two on the same page, im more convinced they took pics of the A&M guy, color adjusted it to crimson for some reason, and photoshoped our logos on him. It pisses me off.

Sometimes you need to step back and view Adidas as a business first and foremost. They are the #2 big dog in their industry. They have to sell Adidas. What's the logical choice to go about this? You must sell Adidas by promoting schools with the largest fan bases and the population of the state they reside in. We are a university with 20,000 students in a state with 2 million in population. Remember they HAVE to sell Adidas. They don't give a **** about MSU compared to aTm and Tennessee. It is what it is. It'd be very stupid to piss off Adidas after our history with Nike. Not very smart to have both Nike and Adidas pissed at us.

You're wrong here. UA is making plenty of money without State. They are not trying to get every school they can. They have Auburn and South Carolina from the SEC. Why do you think they only have 2 schools from the most visible conference in the country? They want to do it right with the schools they have. More quality over quantity is what I mean by more selective. You don't have to take my word for it, but I have a pretty good source of info on this one. Things change of course, but as of about this time last year I had this exact conversation with someone who would know, and this was their answer. I don't think you will see OM partnering with UA either, and look at the 2 folks they have involved with UA.

We've burned that bridge. I'm not saying that they wouldn't take our account but between copyrighting our logo and Jackie calling Knight a cheater I wouldn't say the two are BFFs.

Who even knows if Nike wants us back? We are never going to be a top dawg for a uniform company. Unless we start getting converse or some crap. Nike has came out with just as many crappy looking uniforms as Adidas.

If we switch soon as we get one bad jersey fans will be yelling for us to join under armour.

And last screw nike they gave an opponent an unfair advantage against us. They also kept one of our logos. They did not want us in 2003 (only russel did) and did not go after us again in (2009).

What are you talking about?? We (LT) chose Russell in 2004 because Russell offered to give us 40k Maroon is all that matters tshirts for our opener against Tulane. All the major companies put in bids and we choose which one to accept, not the other way around. Yall have made this Nike "feud" something it never was. Yes Jackie was pissed that Oregon got the cool vests and we didn't. That had nothing to do with who we chose as our uniform provider in 2004 or 2009. We solicit bids from all the companies and we choose the most lucrative to us.

I think Russell offered us something like 500K as well. I remember that for some reason. That was when our budget was like 13-15 million so 500K was a decent %.

Correct.. Our agreement with Russell was something like outfit us with all gear, shitload of tshirts for give-aways, and 500k cash. All appearal companies offer similar arrangments. Nike pays Ole Miss something like 3.5 million. Our arraingment with Adidas is nowhere close to being that good.

Didn't the CL do an article a few years back on the subject?

Correct that they all had to bid. But you can look at a correlation of the dollars bid and how bad they want that team.

For the record the UA guys are complete a**holes to work with. Very very difficult to do business with. I don't mean just Walker I mean the entire upper management. They have an unbelievable product, but their egos are hurting them getting to the Nike level in the football world. This is first hand knowledge.

sounds like we should be courting under armour. they are the wild card. they might do us right, but if the disparity is that large from what nike is paying om and what russell paid us, our brand is in serious trouble. sure, things have gotten much better since then, but apathy is not a good place to be with these apparel companies. maybe the stadium growing will garner us some better suitors, but that remains to be seen.

ADIDAS LOVES US?

So I guess they listened to us. The preview gave me chills. If you pause the video, you can tell jerseys are slightly different. Hopefully they look good. Either way, there's going to be a lot of debate.

MState on the right chest, Adidas logo centered up, and no stripe on the helmet and shoulders. I perfer our logo centered, but thats just me picking the fly **** out of the pepper. Maybe, just maybe this will be the update that everyone (who like me, cares) was looking for.

What I like is having an adidas teaser vid... Awesome. And it seems out of left field. Either Adidas reads the pack and seen me personally bitching about them (unlikly), or the administration was pissed about last years cluster17 of us and A&M essentially the same uni and told Adidas to straighten up or we were moving on. Strick did say that Adidas was being very good to us... Maybe this is what he meant.
