He's not that much closer to home. Not to mention all of the other disadvantages. I don't get it.
I'm not arguing that, I was just saying that his reason for transferring (to be closer to home) was complete BS.
Considering what the last regime left us for the spring game.
With McRae, Berry, Bumphis, Wilder, Smith, etc... I don't think they (Davis and Robinson) will be missed that much. What have they done so far?

the SEC, a WR friendly-system, both young and the chance to grow with a prized young QB, a head coach who is a proven offensive guy, and no WR depth so they both would have been on the field a lot.
Did we need them both to stay? Yes.
But if they wanted to give all that up because of some BS, good 17ing riddance.

about the team we have and what they think of Mullen and the new staff. I get the feeling that the fans and alumni aren't the only ones who realize we have stepped out of the Dark Ages, coaching-wise.
Character shouldn't be a bad word just because it was abused and misapplied by the previous staff. They tried to recruit character without talent and win in the SEC and found out the hard way that it doesn't work. Also, character doesn't mean you don't ever do anything wrong. Character has to do with the way one carries oneself, handles adversity and hardship, and the effort he puts in. We need talented guys willing to put in the work necessary to win, who will play hard and practice hard, and never quit.
I don't understand how these football players can expect to go anywhere in football without having to work hard. I can give them a pass as far as having the motivation to do it indiviudally- I have a hard time myself after all, but that's what we're paying Balis to do. But for these players to just quit like this- good riddance.
how about how they thought they'd get a day off from running when it was raining, started whining about it and wouldn't go out when everybody else did. Then went out half way through the workout and got told by their teammates to carry their *** back inside.

we have had tremendous attrition in the area we are thinnest for this offense, WR. We have lost Davis, Robinson and Clark now and have McRae trying to come back from major injury. It always amazes me that whatever position we are thinnest at always seems to be the position we end up getting hit hardest with in terms of defections and injuries. With this new WR dependent offense you would have thought a RB or two might consider leaving but that position is holding strong (aside from injury) and instead some of our few WRs on campus decide they need to leave even though their playing time is virtually assured just due to numbers. Sort of ironic to me.
When Croom first arrived, he ran off several players and the consensus was that he was going to do things the right way, and that MSU would be better off without them. Well 4 years later, Croom is considered a joke, and pretty much everything he did at MSU sucked including running off players.
Now Mullen has had two WR's transfer and the motto is we will be better off without them. Does he not get any blame for losing two WR's that may have contributed this year, or is he still in the honeymoon phase where basically unless he goes out and starts buying red and blue Lacoste shirts, and calling Ole Miss the flagship university, he is bulletproof.
All fan bases do it, I did it with Cut, O, and now Nutt. Before he coaches the first game, unless he passes out at a subway, he gets a pass on pretty much every decision he makes. If you don't believe me, look at Kiffen.

but I think the fact that losing these two is such a big loss, position-wise, has everything to do with that other guy's complete lack of WR recruiting over five years.
Attrition happens with a coaching change, it's simply inevitable. While Croom needed to run some players off, he took it way overboard and the MSU fanbase was eating it up. Problem is, we didn't have near enough talent, let alone warm bodies, to afford to run ALL of those players off. So far we've lost relatively few players.
There's not much you can do with lazy players. You can only motivate so much. If a player is just too lazy to do the basic work required of him, what will he do when pratice arrives and gametime nears? I'm not celebrating the loss of these two players, neither do I say good riddance or we won't miss them. This hurts, and it hurts a lot. We are thin on experience at WR, we are thin with on-campus WRs, and we are trying to run a spread offense. That's not good. Basically, this season is gonna hurt, bad. But, if the guys are too lazy to work out and are stupid enough to transfer away from an offense perfectly suited for them - well, what else can you do? Some people lack the basic skills to succeed at life, even when they have the potential.

and they have been talking about it on local radio since Monday, meant to post about it before our newspaper did anyways i go to UTC so if i see Terrance i might have to ask him what happened.... ya the Mocs have two incoming SEC players im sure we will be good although not a big Moc fan myself.
Croom ran off almost an entire team worth of players. Mullen has run off two WR's and maybe a DT. It just doesn't compare. Arceto and AJ kicked themselves off of the team, and had they made their grades, I doubt Mullen would have run them off. Plus, I think Croom was intentionally trying to run players off, I don't think Mullen is doing that. I think the reason our workouts are so difficult is simply so that we can get ready to win this season- as much as we can, not to "see who has character" or anything like that.

The fans loved it. Our program had been taken over by the players who did whatever they wanted. There was no discipline. What did we do? Go to the opposite extreme. Croom was kicking players off and the typical MSU fan reaction was, "oh yeah, he's gonna toughen them boys up and start winnin' up thar." Well, we "toughened" our way right into a 9-25 record over the next 3 seasons. Good riddance to those players indeed.
