I don't think so. A quick look at Oregon's last two classes reveals that they signed two four star QBs, with another signed for this year. That is who Wilson should be looking at in terms of competition. Adams would only be eligible to play this year or next (if he has to sit).

Still worried about Oregon though!
I agree. Even though I feel that Wilson is a very solid commit to Nebraska you still have to worry about the big dogs. Oregon is now a big dog especially with all the pub they get and the recent success they've had. Having a Heisman winning QB definitely has something they can tout to recruits.

Hmmm, I think he will stay with NU and am not worried. Wilson has said he's not changing his mind, so I don't take it like he's shopping around. But, I do concede that anybody can change their mind.

What has me worried is that some of us are worried or think he will go to Oregon. Oregon has not been one of the powerhouses when it comes to recruiting. Is Helfrich + staff + Oregon > Riley + staff + NU when it comes to a qb from Oklahoma?

The phenomenon you are witnessing is the conditioning we've undergone for the last 15 years. Better times are on the way!

If we didn't have another Elite 11 QB in the same class as TW I have seen enough in a short time to realize that Riley and co can and would win the battle against Oregon. Oregons 4* QB this year I think was said to not be a college QB and will end up WR. That said they still have last years 4* he would compete with and w/e is on the roster. He should know, as it looks now, his ONLY competition at Neb at least after his frosh year is POB. But if the dominoes fall as they should and KJJ comes here I think we also land his qb, Gebbia. If not Gebbia they will find a stud, I'm no longer worried about QB recruiting as long as DL or Riley are here.

I think some have forgotten that we're dealing with a high school kid. No guarantees whatsoever.

He could change his mind, that's always a possibility. I'm just not worried about him flipping.

Why would he flip? Has he been dropping hints that NU is not the place for him? I can see a viewpoint that he is a committed but taking a visit somewhere else, but I would be surprised if he flips.

Greg Simmons looked like a flippable target. Mique Juarez looks like a flippable target (I know, I'm not holding my breath). I think some players commit early as a safety net with the intention of shopping around. Terry Wilson doesn't seem to fit that mold.

Edit: I figured I would add another name to the list. Kingston Davis. He's supposed to be a "solid" Michigan recruit, #1 fullback in the nation. Yet, he has 5 schools he plans on visiting, at least that's how it appears. I remember seeing something after he committed to Michigan, that NU was his #2 school. He says "solid" to Michigan, but all other indications appear highly flippable.

Some 18 year olds can be quite mature and have a lot of integrity. That is to say, I think it is possible for one of them to genuinely commit. But they're pretty damn rare, and I'm afraid the opposite is much more common.

CC_Lemming, I like reading your posts. With that said, I have to disagree. We as fans are looking at the exceptions and are saying that they are the rule. While players flipping seems way more common these days, the rule (what is actually happening for most) is that players once committed stay committed.

How many players do you think will flip from NU to another team this year? Would you guess in the vicinity of 2, or would you guess in the vicinity of 15? ...We already have Jared Bubak to pad the numbers...I don't know the history of flipping from NU. How many flipped last year, a year with a coaching change, did the majority of players flip? How about the year before that? As I said, I don't know how many players flip in a given year, it just seems the majority commit and stay committed.

You're right, I overstated my point. I had the sort of recruit in the back of my mind who plays the hat game, welcomes all the attention, plays schools off of one another, and all that, as well as the recruit that commits to like three different schools in a year because he wants to secure his spot in case something better doesn't come along. They're not an accurate representation of the average recruit.

You might wonder how the average recruit would approach the process differently if they all attracted that much attention, but I was still wrong to think that represented the majority.

I think NU can feel rather lucky so far in Riley's tenure that kids do change their mind. We really have benefitted so far. Of course we're NU, kids are only honorable when they don't slight us
