Exactly. Real racism is utterly wrong and has already been decided by intelligent society to not be worth entertaining as a moral position. Thus it has been broadened out by left leaning politicians as a convenient tool for cheap political points and avoid an actual intelligent policy discussion on legitimate issues like entitlement reform or immigration policy. Even if everything said from the right is factually true, they try to impugn the motive as racist as a way to deflect from those inconvenient truths and rationalize that motives matter more than actual results. We also have the attention span of goldfish in this country. People forget during George W. Bush's presidency that Donald Trump was a Democrat and having dealings with the Clinton's in New York. Media personalities wanted him on their shows and were very cordial to him. Then when McCain and Romney were running against Obama, they were labeled every "ist" and "phobic" in the book just as much as Donald Trump. Finally when Trump decides he is no longer on board with Democrat policies and pisses off multiple politicians, Romney and McCain are given glowing treatment for opposing Trump while Trump is suddenly Hitler. Liz Cheney, who is a self important blowhard and imbecile by the way, along with her father were absolutely drug through the mud by Democrats when they were voting with Trump's agenda in Congress and pushing for more conservative governance as Vice President respectively. Yet the moment they are attacking Trump and are useful pawns for the Democrat's position on January 6th, they get this "strange new respect" from the media and Democrats. It is obvious that the Democrats give ZERO ***** about individual character or morals, even if someone is a vehement racist, as long as that person is useful to pushing left leaning governance that expands federal power and weakens constitutional restraints. It is the ideas and morals the conservatives represent that they hate, not the individual politicians. It is YOU, the American people, who do not agree that a 51% majority should be able to cram down their views on the other 49% that they hate. Democrats never hated Trump, they hated any one who votes or works against their elitist agenda.
