Was a topic/question for many. UIL Texas says students enrolled in full remote learning can still participate in athletics. Could be a good precedent for other states if it comes down to it.

I get it if the entire school is remote learning. But if your school has an in person learning as an option, you should have to be in school to play sports if they happen.

This will become a local issue, some schools will now allow their kids to play if we are having remote learning

I think in person learning is vital for elementary and middle school level, but once they are in high school so much of the work is online anyway. Would be good for many to prepare them for what an online course may look like in college. Now, there are exceptions...kids with learning disabilities, bad home life, etc. benefit from being physically in the building. If a school is functionally e-learning and its safe to play a sport I don't see the negative. Many states have home school students playing for their local high school team. This would essentially be that.
