His pitch count was getting up close to 120 and with Devin Jones looking less than stellar and Routt on the mend, it's probably a good idea to not take a chance with 8 more weeks of SEC ball left.
And also, it was a chance to get some freshmen some SEC experience. When it got even somewhat uneasy- here comes Caleb Reed. No way was Cohen going to let it get out of hand.
We're going to need our bullpen tommorrow for sure no matter how Routt does- assuming he pitches. I'm not sure that even Greg Maddux could pitch a complete game on 60 pitches- although I saw him throw one on 72 pitches once. Really, the only guys that are probably not going to be available is Caleb Reed and Evan Mitchell.
We still have Andrew Busby, who I'm pretty sure will pitch tommorrow, Taylor Stark, Daryl Norris, and CT Bradford who all haven't pitched yet. Pollerena and Girodo should be available as well- which is important because of the glut of left handed hitters that Auburn has. If they throw Graveman, it probably means that Evan Mitchell starts against Alabama A&M.
