After BGJ referred to us as the last place, burn it to the ground.Aren’t we all going to cheer for Va Tech? I mean it seems to be all the rage on this board to cheer for every player that leaves by their own choice.

Are those the guys we’re going after? Stay on subject please. All but one on this list are better:

You’d be breaking the board rules…you must cheer for everybody that leaves Penn State and say they’re better than anyone we have…you haven’t been following along all these years.I'll actually root for Pitt against him, and that takes a lot for me to do, especially with their unlikeable coach.
Maybe he should kiss Kraft’s feet while he’s at it.He really is a putz. I love the way he's so petty he can't mention Penn State and no thank you. He got 12 years and jerked us around with contract extensions every two years. And lets face it. He wasn't paid eight million a year to beat Maryland. God knows he was afraid to schedule anyone with a pulse during the out of conference schedule. Iron sharpens iron indeed.
And the only thing that was unrivaled and elite during his tenure was the Penn State fans that filled that stadium and created an unbelievable atmosphere only to be disappointed every time.
We poured our hearts out for 12 years too and Penn State was considered a national embarrassment in big games.
And if he was so great he would have been in line for the LSU or Florida jobs. VTech was the best this clown could get. Hopefully through all his embarrassing failures here he's learned when to call a timeout.
I wouldn’t be singing the praises of a place that fired me and I’m quite sure no one else on here would either. After BGJ referred to us as the last place, burn it to the ground.

I dont hate Franklin. I just think it was time for him to move on.Not surprising…Franklin haters think PSU wins 10 games just by putting on their uniforms. So 10 wins should be the floor for the next coach.
I think i could coach this current roster to 10 wins next year, anyone peeked at the schedule.....woof.I dont hate Franklin. I just think it was time for him to move on.
10 wins starting in year 2 is the floor for what is acceptable given our schedule. If we start playing real non conference teams maybe 9 but, yes, 10.
Same is true at most major programs. That's why guys get fired.
Well, obviously.Franklin just stated in an interview that the ANALYTICS.said take the job at vo tech.

I’ll tell what I certainly would do. Name the entity that fired me. That’s childish.I wouldn’t be singing the praises of a place that fired me and I’m quite sure no one else on here would either.

Right. It’s like Ohio State and Michigan players/staff/fans refusing to say the name of the other school. You just look like a moron doing it.Everyone knows that “the last place” is Penn State. For Franklin to refer to Penn State that way is a bad look. It’s petty.
Newsflash, James: Coaches get fired.
Do peopleRojas and Campbell and others. Chaz will likely go to OSU
Also note State College is much closer to the DMV than Blacksburg.I think many people in this thread don’t understand what the DMV is and isn’t.
It’s NoVa (Arlington/Alexandria/Fairfax/Prince William, Loudon), DC, PG/Montgomery County in Maryland.
I’ll certainly root for them.Aren’t we all going to cheer for Va Tech? I mean it seems to be all the rage on this board to cheer for every player that leaves by their own choice.
And that is why you post on this message board and Kraft is the AD at PSU. Thank God you are not the AD.I don’t believe you fire a coach who just had the best season for the school in 30 years after going 3-3 the following year.
SIAP - someone in the national media sees things through many of our eyes.![]()
Why Virginia Tech's hiring of James Franklin isn't exactly a home run
The Franklin hire is being celebrated around the industry, but the coach has plenty of faults — and they go beyond his inability to win against top teams.sports.yahoo.com
James Franklin is going to run circles around the likes of GT, Louisville, UVA, and Pitt in recruiting. He'll be right up there with Miami and Clemson (who is slipping further down the ladder everyday).I commend his courage. It would be tough to go back on a field after the disaster here this year. Booed off the field, chants to fire him. Right back on the horse. VT, that may be a tough *** ride going up against Clemson, Miami, GT, Louisville, even Virginia and Pitt are decent now too.
Print the shirts.Sadly, Franklin had “the last place” in last place.

I saw a recent post on X, Dabo still doesn’t want to embrace the portal . Tigers are screwed .James Franklin is going to run circles around the likes of GT, Louisville, UVA, and Pitt in recruiting. He'll be right up there with Miami and Clemson (who is slipping further down the ladder everyday).
Why weren't his recruiting classes consistently better here if that is true?James Franklin is going to run circles around the likes of GT, Louisville, UVA, and Pitt in recruiting. He'll be right up there with Miami and Clemson (who is slipping further down the ladder everyday).
And when his teams get involved in a bare knuckle type of game, it will fold almost always in the fourth quarter when the chips are down. Franklin may have recruited a lot of highly regarded recruits to PSU, but most of his PSU teams were soft both physically and mentally.James Franklin is going to run circles around the likes of GT, Louisville, UVA, and Pitt in recruiting. Most of his recruiting classes were second tier and he'll struggle to duplicate that at VT. I say second tier because the record against championship caliber teams speaks for itself. Why weren't his recruiting classes consistently better here if that is true?
Sadly, the next coach won't have the luxury of coaching this current rosterI think i could coach this current roster to 10 wins next year, anyone peeked at the schedule.....woof.
We’ll see how much love there is for Kraft in a year or two.And that is why you post on this message board and Kraft is the AD at PSU. Thank God you are not the AD.
Sorry, for clarification, whatever roster we end up withSadly, the next coach won't have the luxury of coaching this current roster
And how would those fourth quarters have gone if he was playing ACC competition instead of Ohio State and Michigan? And when his teams get involved in a bare knuckle type of game, it will fold almost always in the fourth quarter when the chips are down. Don’t kid yourself, he played a lot of ACC quality teams in the Big 10, and a lot of MAC and Patriot League caliber teams in the non-conference games. Do you think that he would’ve walked into Death Valley when Clemson was at its height and beat that team? And how would those fourth quarters have gone if he was playing ACC competition instead of Ohio State and Michigan?
And most years he beat all those teams. Since 2020, he also had seasons of 4-5 in 2020, 7-6 in 2021, and 3-3 this season. He also was 9-4 in 2018. So, in several seasons, he lost to more teams than just OSU and Michigan. And most years he beat all those teams. His big problem was Ohio State, but they’re a problem for everyone.
There were also six double digit win seasons, so there were a lot more wins than losses.Since 2020, he also had seasons of 4-5 in 2020, 7-6 in 2021, and 3-3 this season. He also was 9-4 in 2018. So, in several seasons, he lost to more teams than just OSU and Michigan.
He had a losing record in games with a margin of victory of 7 points or less. They weren’t all tOSU and Michigan. And how would those fourth quarters have gone if he was playing ACC competition instead of Ohio State and Michigan?
Not all, but a large percentage of them. He doesn’t have to win all of his games in the ACC, just 10. He’ll, even Pitt won the ACC not too long ago.He had a losing record in games with a margin of victory of 7 points or less. They weren’t all tOSU and Michigan.
I think his most frustrating record was being 1-10 in games between top 10 teams when PSU still controlled their MNC fate, with the majority being one score games. Again, they weren’t all tOSU and Michigan.
With his best team ever, how did they go against UCLA and Northwestern? And how would those fourth quarters have gone if he was playing ACC competition instead of Ohio State and Michigan?
Oh good lord, it was a bad year, no doubt, but it was the outlier not the norm. Let’s judge an entire career based on two games in one season. With his best team ever, how did they go against UCLA and Northwestern?
