In 2 pitches, he gave up a **** single, a steal, then walked the next batter without throwing a strike. Then proceeds to hit the guy at first in the head. Cohen was pretty just this time. Woody got us in a big hole in less than 12 pitches.

Fortunately, we have the pitching depth to make changes after about 6 total pitches in the top 1/3 of the first inning.

Mullen and Cohen are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to making a change.

Cohen was known for making a LOT of pitching changes at UK. We just haven't really had the depth to see it too much at this point. I like it- much better than Polk's wait until we give up seven runs before we get the bullpen up rule.

Is Woodruff in any way hurt? That was my first fear when I heard he got yanked in the 1st. No slight tweaking of anything?

But what we do know is Woodruff has had problems out of the stretch. The lead off hitter for Valley reached on a ****, which obviously put Woodruff in the stretch and all hell broke loose from there on.

I suspect that is the main issue with Woodruff at this point. He basically needs to learn how to get back to his balance point in his windup and then go from there on to the pitch. So, if that is indeed what the issue is, it's mainly from not being able to pitch in the pre-season.
