if you think UNC had as many fans there as State. There were 60,000 State fans at that game. They obviously weren't a factor, but the Heel fans were outnumbered 4 or 5 to 1.

Give me a break.

And really, the difference between 50k and 60k is negligible. Cowbell was claiming the fans were equal, which is ridiculous.

The UK fans were buying tickets up after our game like crazy. I understand that yes there was a lot of MSU fans but you got to think UNC travels well also. After the game it sure looked like 25+ stuck around for the trophy presentation.

We paid for our whole trip for what we got for our 96' tickets. You know those Nova and UConn fans did the same thing.

that the game was in Detroit. So normal people with generally no rooting interest who just had tickets to the game through a corporation or some connection were probably from Michigan and were going to root for Mich. State. That's the difference.

a. NYC was a different final four b/c technically it was in New Jersey and NYC just didn't seem to embrace it like other cities do. They have way too much going on.

b. The arena was so small that there were not nearly as many "neutral" tickets available.

c. Syracuse to New York is nothing like Michigan State to the state of Michigan.

my point is that last night was an extraordinary situation b/c most corporate seat were probably filled with people rooting for Michigan State.

Were any of us?

There were easily more than 12K fans...but hey, you couldnt possibly be wrong with an estimation based off a friggin TV.

The crowd played no part in the game because crowds really can only play a part in the game when the game is close. Since UNC beat the **** out of Mich State, the crowd wasnt a factor.

Had it been a close game, im sure the crowd could have mattered. But it wasnt, so it didnt.

But for most of the game, cavernous Ford Field had the atmosphere of a Lions game, save the few thousand Tar Heel fans whose Carolina Blue team put in a much better blue-collar effort than the team that was supposed to pride itself on that.

Not sure how accurate that is, but that's the story that's running around on the internet right now. I don't know how a few thousand translates, but I'm guessing there weren't more than 10,000 Tar Heel fans, and I'm sure at the very least they were outnumbered 3 to 1 by MSU fans.

I'm right. There were 10,426. Although there are a few that I wasn't sure about, because they were wearing blue, but I didn't see any UNC logos on their clothes.
