That was what was most impressive. His curve didn't have the normal snap to it, and yet he still threw a shutout.
...was calling a "high" strike zone. Pitches at the knees were called low. Pitches at the armpits were called strikes. Chris "out" pitch is his slider that hits the low outside corner against right handers. His slider looks just like his fastball until about 20 feet from the plate. Chris has three pitches right now with great command; the fastball isn't overpowering has movement at about 92-93; his slider is nasty to right hand batters; and, his change-up complements both power pitches. He has a curve, but uses it less than the other three pitches.
Last night the most impressive thing to me was that the Bears only got two on base once, in the 9th, then we got the double play to end the game. That is how dominating he was. I was equally impressed by Alex Yarbrough. What I don't get is that almost every Rebel is from somewhere other than Mississippi. Yarbrough is from Texas, Snyder from Virginia, Allen from Florida, Bousfield from Florida, Mathis from Louisiana, Wahl from Virginia, Kirksey from Louisiana, Mistone from California, Newalu from Georgia, and Anderson from Florida, Orvis from Florida and Jamison from Memphis. Not one player hit the field for them from Mississippi except the reliever Greenwood from Byhalia.
