That was just a ridiculous performance....

was the cash register going off in Stratton's house. I know he's been borderline 1st/2nd rounder... but a performance like this in front of 30 scouts can do nothing but make him more valuable.

he could have taken the mound tonight in a AA minor league game and shut them down. He will be a 1st rounder or early supplemental at the worst

I don't know when I've seena pitching staff on a roll like that before. And Stratton has been incredible all year long.

Said that earlier today. Good pitching, getting on base and figuring out how to get those guys across. That's what we do.<div>
</div><div>BUT, we may have started to find our hitting.

he was projected to go in the first round with the 23rd pick.

FYI- they had the Cardinals taking him. I hope it works out that way.

Just hope they do not need more than 5 runs to win any games rest of way....

Love this pitching staff.....

Big time win....As Cohen said, every series and every game is the most important one the rest of the way. Tomorrow is our most important game to date.

Note: South Carolina is now 13-7 after a 1-5 start. I was wrong about them. Still wish we had not dropped that third strike in that game though.

That was what was most impressive. His curve didn't have the normal snap to it, and yet he still threw a shutout.

...was calling a "high" strike zone. Pitches at the knees were called low. Pitches at the armpits were called strikes. Chris "out" pitch is his slider that hits the low outside corner against right handers. His slider looks just like his fastball until about 20 feet from the plate. Chris has three pitches right now with great command; the fastball isn't overpowering has movement at about 92-93; his slider is nasty to right hand batters; and, his change-up complements both power pitches. He has a curve, but uses it less than the other three pitches.

Last night the most impressive thing to me was that the Bears only got two on base once, in the 9th, then we got the double play to end the game. That is how dominating he was. I was equally impressed by Alex Yarbrough. What I don't get is that almost every Rebel is from somewhere other than Mississippi. Yarbrough is from Texas, Snyder from Virginia, Allen from Florida, Bousfield from Florida, Mathis from Louisiana, Wahl from Virginia, Kirksey from Louisiana, Mistone from California, Newalu from Georgia, and Anderson from Florida, Orvis from Florida and Jamison from Memphis. Not one player hit the field for them from Mississippi except the reliever Greenwood from Byhalia.

He was calling some pretty low, too. I thought the pitch to Norris dropped a bit below his knees, but it was a K. They did it to Stratton too once, so I won't complain because it was consistent for both teams. But I thought Wahl kept his pitches lower on the avg than Stratton.

I think you got it backwards. He was calling the low strike all night. There were at least 4 or 5 at bats where hitters on both sides were either rung up or halfway down to first on 3-1 pitches that were below the knee that were called strikes.

Something to say on Wahl:

He's a good young pitcher. Has the stuff to be great, no doubt. BUT, you mess his rhythm up, it bothers him. Loved Renfroe distracting him at first- I swear I called the wild pitch right before it happened. Because you could tell, being in a groove is what keeps that kid firing.

Then he drooled on himself one time, and he threw like 2 straight balls before he got it of off of him and settled down. No, really.

Any little thing you can do to mess his groove up, I'd suggest it. It really does bother him.

Yes, I did quick reply. Shoot me.

with Stratton's fastball not being overpowering. I know a lot of baseball players in the SEC that would strongly disagree as well.
