That was the type of game that makes me curse the NIT....

Also, was it a coincidence that State spotted Tennessee 17 points? I really 17ing doubt it. 17!

We will probably make a run in the NIT, which will get everyone excited. And once everyone gets on board, we will get out hearts ripped out by someone like Tulsa.

I could not give less of a damn about an NIT run. The NIT can be useful if you have a young team that needs some kind of tourney experience but for a team like ours it is just an embarrassment to be in.

Then the coach from "Tulsa" will get hired at **SEC School** and continue to beat our *** every year until they finally get canned for failing to beat SEC teams not named MSU.

I wouldn't go even if I lived in Starkville.

I said basically the same thing on here the other day and got villified for not being a "true fan". Some numbnut said that the Hump would be rocking if we hosted an NIT game. I think an NIT game would look about like a game against Centenary in mid-December. I don't even want to look at this team again on TV or in person.

I live in Starkville, and had season tickets this year. I will not pay more money to watch mediocrity. TV coverage will be just fine.

I'm a Bulldog hoops addict, and I want more. Some of you are letting your disappointment fill you up with ********. You'll be at the Hump for the game. And you'll be lucky to be there.

I'm disappointed too. But the NCAA tourney is not the only purpose of college basketball. RPI is a crock of ****, stuck by preseason projections througout the season. I ain't saying we deserve a bid, because we lost our close games and ended the reg season with a fizzle. But that doesn't mean that the selection process is good for the game that I love. Because it is not On some level, the games and the competition in the games is still important, even if Lunardi has it crossed off his list.

and played like they gave a ****, I wouldn't be so disgruntled. The actual effort given yesterday is what is making me have such a sour taste. And plus, we were far from being out of the tourney even after losing to Auburn. And as much as Hanmu has coddled Stansbury's sack for the whole year, it was a complete 180 from him.

And I still say don't turn it down but there won't be more than 6K.

I know I don't care to go.

This isn't like we have sucked for the past 10 years. This season is a disappointment. We aren't even fun to watch.

we're playing a team we've never played before? Or one with another interesting angle to it? I do agree that attendance will be down if it is Spring Break.

there is no way in hell we should even think about turning down an NIT bid.I'll definitely be hopingfor an NIT title if we don't pull a miracle out of our asses and get an NCAA bid.

I can't imagine the stink wearing off from yesterday unless we make it to the finals of the SEC tourney and lose. I might consider going then.

I haven't been to a game this season and sure as hell don't plan on my first being an NIT game. I normally make a handful of games a year, for reference.

considering it might cost more than how many tickets are sold. If tickets were sold today, how many would buy one?

I doubt this year would be any different, no matter how disappointing the season has been. I don't see any way we'd lose money by hosting.

If I remember right, it was $15/ticket a few years ago. So if we get 6k, that's 90 grand for tickets. No idea how much we had to bid to host or what the operating expenses are.

The fact is, if you couldn't make money playing a basketball game in front of 6,000 fans (and less), there'd be only 100 or so Div. I teams instead of 300+. If we make $90K on the game (and your number doesn't include concessions, programs, t-shirts, TV money, etc.), I bet we'd easily clear $30K.

Since we were 16-7, I have been as critical as anyone on here other than C34 and his homos that have a personal grudge against Stansbury. My biggest beef is not the X's and O's but the near total lack of preparation for some games and the complete lack of motivation. If you can't coach then you damn well better make up for it with motivation and effort. We have done neither lately.

Actual attendance for an NIT game will be around 4500 if they are lucky. I paid for my season tickets this year and ain't paying another cent to watch us not get back on defense 20 times a game.

...appearance should definitely turn down an opportunity to participate in the NIT.

I mean, that single Final 4 appearance puts Miss. State up there with Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, Syracuse, etc.

It's so beneath aperennial basketball powerhouse like MSU to accept a NIT bid.

It's unbelievable what is posted on this board as of late.

HD6, pleasecome back ASAP & fix this mess.

....a few years back. Every seat in the lower section of the Hump was filled. However, probably 90% of the upper level was empty. USM had a full section of fans too. I had about zero BC points back then. I got seats along the baseline in a few rows above the gray seats.

Highlight of that night.....Zimmerman posterized that USM center.

that the NIT based their brackets on who is most deserving of a seed, and if you are a higher seed, you get the home game? I thought they changed that a few years ago?

Maybe I'm wrong becuase I don't keep up with the NIT.

As a true State fan, you should be more excited about an NIT run than much of anything else. I guess you'd rather only pull for us in National Championships and Final Four games since we're there all the time. Regardless of what you think, there is almost no hope of EVER being a long term national power in any major sport. We may have a few decent seasons every now and then (Final Four OR Cotton Bowl every 20 years), but in general on a year in year out basis, we are never going to be much more than mediocre. If you can't enjoy things like the NIT as a State fan, then you may as well find a new school the cheer for.

back to the pasture of genes page...this ******** that we cant ever compete and should accept is not the truth and will not be accepted anymore now that lonnie tinkle is gone.
Greg Bryne will do what is needed in ANY sport as needed ...win..or get gone..as he did with Football, Womens Golf, Volleyball, and womens tennis.

I can spend the next ten falls being productive, doing yardwork, that type of thing, I guess. I really don' t know what you're supposed to do on Saturday afternoons when not watching football.
