I agree but there has to be some sort of progress of some sorts with JON to justify keeping him as far as defensive output goes.
Hard to know what we have until we get to the games and see what we have; but yeah I guess we'll know it when we see it.

Wasn’t the new practice facility suppose to change the direction of the team. It was suppose to get us better athletes and suppose to make us a destination for said athletes.now a few years in there is more to it than that.
My football seats are on the 40 yard line at a near perfect height. The 4 seats to my right have been occupied 3 times. All Minnesota games. Hopefully the new costs price the Minnesota fans out of buying as well.
It isn’t just the Fat Cats that aren’t showing. There are still a lot of STH in the non-club seats. Those seat costs are not unreasonable. The Maryland game attendance was pathetic. Sterile as sterile can be. The non- Wilson Club Seats were maybe 30% full. Just like the Wilson Club. There isn’t really a bad seat in WR, so I highly doubt the long time supporters would be there cheering on the Cats had they stayed in those better seats. I am not arguing they did the right thing with pricing, I don’t think the did. However, there are few things that bring fans out. A winning team is the primary one, and an exciting team that even in defeat is entertaining and doesn’t crush your soul. This isnt Nebraska football.
It would also be interesting to see the size of the segment of fans staying away because of Covid. That would tell us how many fans would be in the stands despite the new pricing and team’s play.
Yeah I agree completely; more important than anything is to avoid a run of several years like 2021 going into the rebuilt stadium. If the product on the field is bad, it won't matter even if tickets are free, nobody's going to show up.
I just meant to say I'm optimistic that the pricing situation won't be a repeat of WRA.
As far as the product on the field goes, we have 2 years to get that at least looking like it's turning around; it's not underselling it to say that the next couple of years are the most important of Fitz's tenure to date.
He has to figure out whether JON/Bajakian will work out and whether the staff needs a complete overhaul. The hallmark of his tenure has been staff stability but it's looking more and more like there will need to be significant changes across the board if what we saw in 2021 continues.
I think the next year is the most important in Fitz tenure. Back to back 3-9 or worse will kill this team going into a relocation venue. Think attendance sucks now? Image going to Soldier’s or Wrigley or wherever when there is a bad product. Might as well play 12 road games.
I love Fitz, but he is taking a huge risk retaining JON. It’s on him now. I sure hope the “in Fitz we trust” crowd are vindicated with an enormous improvement next year. I would love to eat crow, but last year scared the crap out of me.

I can't believe people are letting Covid rule their lives. The current administration has said we are all going to get Omicron/Covid, so get back to doing the things you like to do. Get vaxed, boosted and if you must wear a mask, do so, but as I told you almost 2 years ago the masks out there are junk-very few are medical grade, particularly the fashionable cloth masks
My point wasn’t to take a position on whether it’s the right thing to do. The discussion in that part of the string centered around disappointing attendance. It would be interesting to know how many fans are staying away because of it, and I believe it might still be sizable. The athletic department should be working to find out the answer.
I question if you are a STH LOL. A STH would know they could still buy the cheapest end zone seats (which I'm sure will have no fee) and sit anywhere in the stadium with possible exception of tOSU or UM games.
I think the situation is that COVID IS ruling people people's lives or rather ruining their lives, by killing them. Many do choose not to let COVID rule their lives, until it does, and it seems to be more so for those who chose not to. Any mask is better than no mask, IMO, but what do I know, I am not the Doc.
If I renew my seats, contact Uber because I have only attended one game each of the last 2 years and sent the rest to Uber to distribute to his NU friends
I believe that’s the definition of a “fair weather” fan…you only show up to support the team when we are winning. Our student-athletes deserve better. Do you root for the Cubs by chance?
Here we go. The real divide. This is wrong. This is cub fan land where the best reason to go is the worlds largest outdoor beer garden full of hot chicks. What? There is a baseball game too?
South side philosophy, of which I agree, is you only spend money and invest time when the team shows they value your money and time by consistently trying hard to field a competitive team. Arrogant coaches does not lean towards competitive. Incompetent assistant coaches does not steer towards competitive. An admin that turns a blind eye while still putting their hand out is that exact opposite of trying hard. If I want to donate time and money with zero expectations, I’ll go watch a church league and put money in the coffer.
It’s a two way relationship - team and fan. Extorting my time and money because ‘the kids deserve it’ is BS. There are far more kids in the world that deserve my time and money if I simply want to give it away. I dont. I’m a fan. I expect something from the organization in return for my time and money. Otherwise, they can continue to unmeaningfully exist and I will check box scores and that’s it.
Screw you. I know that you travel to some games from Florida, but so do many others. I and many others have been to each of the venues you went this year multiple times supporting tge Cats. Do it is no big deal.
Let’s give you an example. I live in a northwest suburb. For an 11 am game, if I do not tailgate, which requie purchase of a pass and a monetary donation, I have to leave my house at about 9:45 am. The game is over by 2 pm, at the earliest. While at the game, some concession will be purchased which supports the program. I usually stay to the end of game. I drive home and get home at 3 if I park in one of the paid lots. That’s 5 hours for each game. If you tailgate 2 hours before the game, add at least another 4 hours for getting all the crap together and put away. This is usually 7 Saturdays a fall. These people are making a commitment if both time and money. These are fans in the stands.
What do you do I presume in Florida? Do you make that same commitment of time and money as does the poster you castigate?
I don't have particularly good seats. I am in a non-premium section, on the aisle, and high enough to not get wet if it rains. I liked the other STH fans I sat next to (although they were not there this year). I will retain my season tickets if the prices don't go up too much. I already travel 3+ hours to get to games, but I only make it to about 4-5 games a year, and give away the remainder of my tickets, if I can find anyone to take them. I just had twins, and it may make it difficult to get to games these next few years, but I hope to take them to games in the future.
If they price me out, I will probably end up giving up my tickets, and just going to a few select games a year. Honestly, that would be the more economical choice for me even now, but I want to support the program. I can't throw money away too much. I have to start saving for these twin girls' tuition at Northwestern. Which I am sure will be about $120K a year in 2040. LOL!

What an ordeal. I had no idea of the sacrifices some make to support the Cats. I wish I could endure this anguish 7 times a year. Hope you can make it to Dublin.

Admittedly, I watched a couple of games for each sport until they weren’t worth it. I’ll listen in the car or check the box but not spend my time or money. I have not bought any NU gear for the longest stretch that I can remember. I still wear my purple sweaters and ties to work. But am down to zero sweatshirts or tshirts. Usually I have lots of both.
Yes, I know, not bringing anyone to there knees. But I’m not alone. Collectively, it matters. If it didn’t, games would be free, concessions would be free, TV would be ad free, swag would be given away at games. There must be some reason they charge for all these things. And like the traffic on this site, the attendance, the renewals, the brand sales must all be down.
And blaming the fans won’t reverse it.
Sadly, this attitude seems to represent the admin and PF. As though they are owed fandom for simply existing. What a disconnect. But a self correcting one. I wonder if coral keeps coming if the tailgates dry up???
But if they field competitive teams, my rants will change to much more positive discussions as will the general temperature of the whole board. I know, unreasonable expectation. So we live with what we get. Cheers.

Back before we had expectations, the MBB and FB teams pulled off about one good upset a year. But the bar is raised. The budget is raised.
And CCC was forced to play guys in some normal spots. Can’t wait to get our stretch center back…

The idea of people being upset because it takes 2/3 of a day to go to a college football game is a little crazy to me. Yes, college football is a very long sport… but going to games is fantastic. It’s a day spent having a blast! It’s what we work to secure free time and money to be able to do! I can’t imagine being so nonplussed about football that I find getting to attend the game an annoyance.
I agree. Yes it can be a long day but it's time with friends and family, what a terrible way to spend your time lol.

And to reduce confusion between Ryan Field and Ryan Fieldhouse.
Since the Fieldhouse naming, I've thought the endgame to all of this was a stadium renovation with Ryan as the principal donor but with the new name of Ryan Stadium (enabling a naming of the field to Fitzgerald Field down the road).
I can hardly wait for Public Hearings regarding the new stadium by my fellow Evanstonian's that surround the complex. I've already heard of people talking lawsuits and so forth. It will be interesting knowing their despise for NU over the decades
