I'm a bit surprised by Dayton and Winchester. But it's been awhile since I've been in either and as a SC resident now, things might have changed.

Dayton is very small and a hell hole at that. When you hear someone say; "I'm from Dayton kentucky," your first question should be one of the following.

1. How many felonies do you have?
2. How many kids do you have?
3. What's it like being a dirt merchant?

I live fairly close to Hazard and I don't consider it a dangerous city. Drug problems maybe but not a violent crime type of place.

I don't doubt the numbers, but having lived in NKy almost my entire life, I can say there's no place in the mentioned cities I'd hesitate to walk through. I've spent a lot of time in Newport - parents born there & mother raised there - & to a lesser degree, Covington: restaurants, bars, businesses, entertainment. Yes, they have poor, down-trodden areas. I just don't hear stories of people being randomly mugged or shot in any of those towns & I follow the news pretty closely. Net, I take these high numbers come from drug deals & domestic violence vs. being places you shouldn't go to/thru. We're working on a contract with a Newport firm & visit there often as I write this.

Agreed.

Lived in NKy all my life (except my years at UK) and these places are amateurs compared to the murdering and other crime in OTR and other parts of Cincy.

If West Louisville were a city (as has been proposed by some of its leaders), it would top the list and it wouldn't be close.

I thought I'd see Hopkinsville on that list based off of everything I've heard about that place. I live in Bowling Green and almost accepted a job there a few years ago. A lot of friends of mine from this area were warning me about it and urging me to be careful if I moved. Just thought it was kinda funny. Is Hopkinsville really that bad?

1. Zero
2. Two
3. I am not a dirt merchant.

Dayton is a small town with a lot of poor people. But its inclusion on this list is silly. There are a lot of drugs and drug related robberies, though.

I looked through a few of the other "Worst places in KY..." things this website has done and Harlan didn't show up once, I would take this with a grain of salt.

I grew up there. Hazard has always had a drug problem. ALWAYS.

Avoid Liberty Street and Alais(sp Al-Aise) Holler and you survive Hazard.
