Btw, they just got the low hanging fruit with all the mountain counties. Go to some of the bedroom communities and count the fats and see who has more.
In the town I grew up back there, they only had fast food restaurants, a diner, a ****** "steakhouse", and an ever revolving door of a decent restaurant that may or may not close. Also only had one theater, which they no longer have now. It's a ghost town and I have no idea why anyone still lives there because there is no opportunity.
I always hated that I had to drive like two hours to go to any decent restaurant, to shop for any decent clothes, or to see some type of show. The food thing really bothered me though.

Alot of people would love to live in these areas though. People are sick of society and just want to be left alone. They would welcome "the head of a hollar" in eastern Kentucky. Visited some folks in a gated community in Florida last year that were pissed that they had to have their hummingbird feeder voted on by the local homeowners association. Couldnt have a grill/smoker. Couldnt do home improvements themselves. Couldnt even park a 4 wheel drive truck or boat in their own driveway.
Breathitt County is safe, but its health department made the list. Must be some sort of death trap. Like falling air conditioning duct and doctors dispensing turpentine for a flu vaccine.
And what kind of Walking Dead terror is happening in Owsley county. 16,000 people died before the age of 70. The county only had a population of 4800 in the last census. People rising from their graves, getting diabetes and dying again. And clumsy people too. 129 deaths caused by accidents. That means every three days some chucklehead was falling off a ladder, choking on a chicken bone, or having a little mishap with the power saw.
Not sure the author understood the data this study was based on.

figured Monroe county would be on there. Drove through Fountain Run a few weeks ago. One of the more backwards places that I have been to in a while.
Wow. Pretty impressive of the guy who drove through a small community and was able to determine how unhealthy the entire county was.

Yeah, if you take LW out of Adair you could shake all those counties up in a bag and the same **** would fall out.
Monroe is rough and backwards, for sure. But there is nothing inherently different about it that would make it any more unhealthy than the rest. Outside the usual redneck **** like diet, smoking, drugs, general fatness, ect. that seems to be widespread throughout the state.

No way in hell I'd live in Monroe. Wouldn't want to live in any of those counties surrounding it either. Warren is as close as I'd be willing to get.

That's what he told me. I tried to get him to go camping with us Saturday night, but he said he needed to be rested to outshoot you. Looks like he should've gone camping....

I was in the best playing shape of my life up until about 4 months ago. Had Been playing for about a year and a half 3-4 times a week with some ballers (pettigrew and some other small d1 guys), then I started having some sciatic nerve issues in my back/down my leg (no Pitino).
That has ended my competitive Bball days. Just now trying to golf a little. I suppose I can still shoot some, tho. Not at your level, or my brothers for that matter. But, I don't think I'd totally embarrass myself.

His problem was always lateral quickness. He has a good enough first step, tho. And you have to play his 3 ball, so if he can get that first step it's tough to recover due to his height.
I only go 6'2 and have had my issues against him even when I was better.

Oldham? Not all that familiar with Oldham, but thought it was one of the better counties in the state. All the rich Louisville peeps live out that way, no? And I do know they have a very good school system (according to my wife who is a teacher and sees the stats).

I have been through Monroe Co several times to visit family who lived there. A couple of weeks ago was the first time that I traveled through Fountain Run from Scottsville . We were travelling to Gamaliel for my kids game. It was a different side than I had seen of the county before.
The counties of Barren, Allen, Hart, Metcalfe, Edmonson, and Monroe are very similar in my opinion of farm land and people. My family is from Barren and we are about as backwards as they come. Yet, that portion of Monroe was just a little more unique than I am accustomed to.
why would Oldham be on the list? I live here too - and like anywhere else there are small pockets off less than desirable living areas, but overall it's pretty nice out here. And the school system IS one of the best -
FWIW I'm not in the western part of the county where the "rich" folk live - I'm up here in the county seat.
Oldham County is literally the nicest county in the state, and is home to the richest people in the state. Them people ain't fatties.
