I didn't see this game but I always hear about this close call wherewe made a questionable touchdown to win the game. Does anyone have the video of this touchdown? I would love to see it.

I was at the game. He scored. Even if Gibson didn't, he scored on the previous play, and that should have been ruled a TD.

Like someone said- the only reason that play is controversial is because Todd Christensen whined about it like a little ***** on TV.

I was sitting at the 40 towards the north endzone, and was watching the play through binoculars. When I saw the play, I thought he bounced in. Refs called it good, and none of the replays were definitive one way or the other. Maybe he did get in.

All I know is that it doesn't matter, because State would have won anyway. If LSU had gotten the ball, MSU would have gotten a safety and a FG, and then won in OT. That '99 team could just do things like that.

At least with Gibson's TD, you could argue that the ball broke the plane before his knee was down. The LSU RB fumbled the ball at the 5 and was chasing it into the endzone where Eugene Clinton recovered the ball.

You never knew how they were going to win next.

Matt Wyatt- who had been benched and up until the Auburn game of 1999 many thought he was a waste- leads us to the school's greatest comeback on the road.

Scott Westerfield misses the go ahead field goal against UK, and then we get the ball back and Westerfield drills the game winner.

Rod Gibson scores to beat LSU.

But they saved the best for last with the 1999 Egg Bowl- down 20-6, and come all the way back to tie and then win the game on the pass, pick, and kick.

That was also the year that Vandy decided to trash talk with us and Smoot told a guy for Vandy that he would let the dude get a catch if he did his homework for him. We ripped Vandy a new one after that. Lou Holtz also came to Starkville and we shut out his South Carolina team.

And then we FINALLY won a bowl game.

I actually know Rod Gibson and asked him about it a few years ago (no, really)- he says he scored.

Good enough for me. Ha- he's a trip, too.

You can say it was a home town call, but the Auburn fans I know were all hoping the call would be reversed so Auburn could run more time off the clock.
