On OM boards they are drinking the recruiting, 6-6, and "we've got a chance vs Texas" kool-aide. Life is grand for them at the moment; no one seems to acknowledge the absolute **** storm they are walking in to. On the flip side, MSU has arguably the best schedule of my lifetime. It's really set up that this team can make the best run we've seen in over 10 years. Contrast that with our boards were we are tearing each other apart for no reason at this point. Hopefully Saturday will cure some of this and in 3 weeks we will return to normalcy. To make this post a lil less swan lakeish, 17 off and kiss my *** douchebags

State needs to either beat Auburn or have news soon of exoneration on this NCAA deal. Really both need to happen. However if Auburn wins and State gets more bad NCAA news.... The boredom is going to get ugly.

Who talks about how awesome they are all the time? Go to a Bama or LSU board and see if all the posters are talking about how great they are all the time. It's ok to show optimism when you suck but it's not very cool to tell everyone you are soooo great all the time. Find the prettiest girl in the world and I'll show you a girl that says she's ugly more times than she admits she's beautiful. It's just how it is.

What are you talking about?

I've seen ONE 6-6 out of the many predictions.

I really don't know anyone who thinks we will be worth a **** this season, or probably next.

Of course, even a prediction of 6-6 would be less Kool-Aidish than declaring ourselves champions.

When has the spirit ever thought they were not going to be 3 or 4 games better than what everyone else thinks. They have the best indoor practice facility in the country, the best game day experience, the best coaching staff, and they wouldn't trade their recruits for anyones. This is nothing new for them from January until that first loss in September.

going to finish 10-2. Not everyone drank that koolaid but some did. Same thing goes for OM boards. You can always find some overly optimistic idiots for any team and quite frankly, i envy them sometimes. OM and State are not different in this respect.

He said he's been a fan for 30 years but was trying to get out of the habit of using "we" when talking about State. He's a troll.

There's a lot of 5-7 predictions in there and very few 3-9's. For this Mississippi team, that's extremely over-optimistic.

Coach has also predicted that State would win 30 games in basketball with Ravern Johnson, Barry Stewart, and Kodi Augustus starting, and when it didn't happen used it as a crutch to say Stansbury wasn't meeting expectations. By the way, all 3 of those players have done next to nothing professionally, if anyone wants to restart the talent argument for Stansbury's teams.

They won 24 games as juniors- we had 5 starters returning. Most teams improve- Stansbury's didnt. Shocker

And almost every dumbass but you saw that the 30 wins was tongue in cheek. Sorry it went over your head

I agree. I predict three wins. But I'm not sure someone predicting five wins (a losing season) qualifies as Kool-Aid.

Yes, thinking someone may be using two usernames to troll is certainly fodder for an Oliver Stone film. Upon first glance at the thread it appeared that way. I guess my meter needs adjusting. I still say maroonthirteen is a troll.

No doubt. It's just human nature. Most people are always going to be optimistic about their team in August. Nothing wrong with that. It would suck if that wasn't the case.

This year, I think it does. Freeze may be a good coach for you, but he has absolutely nothing to work with this year. Especially on offense. And the schedule doesn't do you any favors with the Texas game and not playing Kentucky.

tenure, do you ever post anything of substance?

Or is a subject line post all your feeble brain is capable of?

I HAVE been a State fan for 30 f'n years. 1981 Hall of Fame Bowl.....present. We, they.....I was pissed whatever day the booster news came out. In my opinion, nothing is worse news for a university than a damn NCAA investigation. To me, news that we fired a coach, dissociated a booster...is all but admission a "recruiting irregularity" occurred. It is no longer potential recruiting irregularity. Maybe some of y'all don't think it is that serious but it seems every other day the bump in the road that was just firing an assistant coach for 17ing around is turning into a pot hole. The NCAA has questioned not one but at least two Memphis high schools. You can bet your home that when the 2nd player is interviewed Friday, it will be all over the paper early next week. Then again when the NCAA release their findings and penalties. Maybe y'all don't think it is a big deal. Maybe your "sources" are saying it is nothing. I keep hearing it is nothing too but the damn thing continues.

I take a lot of pride in being a State fan and having grown up there...I love the place. Now, I live among others who never have anything positive to say about State and I defend State all I can. However, when **** like this comes up, what seems like every other year, it gets old.....and how do I defend State this year? Yeah, the university is making all the right moves. I defended State until I was blue in the face over the Cam Newton deal too. Nobody was listening. The papers didn't care that State coaches told Daddy Newton to go 17 himself. Now here we go again. However, this seems to have more substance. I'm just f'n tired of the kick in the nuts. This ranks right up there with the kick in the nuts that was Euguene, OR......fly across country, enjoying dinner, looking forward to the game, and someone says "hey, your QB is suspended." 17n great! Now, here we go again. This is lining up to be a very satisfying season for us.....but hell no. Let's start it off with a NCAA investigation. Excuse me, if that pisses me off slightly. Maybe others it doesn't upset. But to me...nothing is more important than a schools reputation. I feel Mullen and Stricklin are two of the finest we have ever had in their respective positions....and we still have some dumbass screw it up. Anyway, I could go on and on.......

tenure or anyone else, if you want to offer something of substance, that points to this not being a big deal despite the negative news constantly coming out......go ahead. But smartass one liners, and cryptic subject line questions aren't funny, cute, or make you a message board hero.

There's nothing wrong with that talent, especially in a weak

conference and with a weak OOC schedule. An incredible shooter, a guy that can cause matchup problems, and a third banana that does all the little things, plays as good a defense as physically possible for his athleticism, and hits shots is a pretty good start to a college team. The problem is that Ravern was a lazy POS and Kodi was a headcase. Once you recruit guys like that, you're in a tough position. If you try to make them act right, there's a good chance they just quit, but if you accommodate them, you watch Ravern play ole defense and Kodi undermine you. I think had either one of them been on a team with strong leadership from other players, where they were the only character problems, they would have been ok. But having two of them on the same team, with them being two of the more talented players, was a disaster.

Agreed. But there's a difference between foregone-conclusion predictions and optimistic best-case-scenario "predictions" such as 5 wins.

I'll add to that the fact that we could all look back to 5 years ago and see that the roles of MSU and OM were completely reversed. Sure, most State fans projected that Nutt was living on borrowed time while OM fans refused to acknowledge it, but it just goes to show how quickly things can change in the world of college football. Due to that, I'm not big on beating our drum from the mountain tops too loudly these days. I'll just enjoy what I can

If we are already in trouble, why has the player not been removed from practice?

Answer: someone knows this isn't a big deal.

Why was the coach removed?

Answer: someone knows he is our only staff link to the irregularities. The other link has been disassociated.

I'm sure the investigators need to ask more questions about this boosters deals with any others or Mirandos, I just don't think there are any.

Bottom line these things happen when a team has success.

Kind of like your 2007 prediction that Tulane would beat us after we got skull17ed by LSU, then you said you were of course joking about the prediction after we won.

Let me go on record to say that any time I've predicted something wrong on this board that I was just joking as well.

you need help- knowing the fact that I think Stansbury was a ****** coach, there is no way in hell I was serious about us winning 30 games. You are clearly the only dumbass that took me seriously

I agree with that statement but there is one difference between us and Ole Miss. When it looks bad for State we see it as it is and expect and accept what is comming but many Bear fans can't. We drink the kool aid the year after the year we have a good season. I just knew Croom turn the corner after 2007. Ole Miss fans drink the Kool Aid every year. They could have 11 guys in wheel chirs starting and they think they are going to win 10. It's going to be a hard year for them. I am not saying 6 wins is out of the question and if I was a Ole Miss fan I would dang sure hope for that but realistically they should be looking at four wins.
