Every few games we will have two guards that get hot. Most games we will not.

I like Jans, but he's gonna have to pick a lane in a hurry or else find himself doing something other than coaching college basketball. It may not have been sexy, but his style of defense and rebounding was winning a lot of games when he got here, and it's felt for two years like he's trying to force the roster into something that he's clearly uncomfortable coaching.

His portal recruiting this year made it seem like he was trying to get back to his style of play, but man did he whiff badly on Ballard and Achor who combined for 5 pts and 8 boards last night btw.

I think Jans is a really good coach, but he's been a fish out of water for two years, and the trend isn't improving

He’s trying to make the team around Hubbard, who is a streaky volume shooter and can’t defend well. Therefore, the defensive teams of his first couple of years have been replaced by higher scoring teams that don’t defend well. This year he did so bad in the portal that we have a team that doesn’t score that well but also doesn’t defend that well either.

This could be applied to multiple coaches in all sports at MSU over the decades. Which begs the question:

“Is the coaching or is it the east central Mississippi environment?”

We will sneak into the tournament as a number 9 or 8 seed. Lose and end our season in that game. It happens every year.
