Game lost end of 3rdQ. Two point game, Nivar loses contact on shooter at top of zone. We come down and she attacks way too early, we get a bad shot. UL hits a 3/4 court dagger.
Six point swing, ballgame.
Get ready to travel to Greenville SC for the tourney ladies!
If Carolina's 5th seed will be going to 4th seed's homecourt.

Lanie was messing up a lot today. 1st quarter she was taking bad shots and forcing it. Second quarter she calm down and let the offense come to up. 3rd quarter, Louisville guards were blowing by her. I told yall that LG has problems guarding elite quicker guards. CB had to take her out to calm her down. I do not know why TH did play. Her lateral quickness, etc. could have help out today. The same way it did when she played against them at UNC. I thought EA played very well today against Louisville. We had too many unforced turnovers throwing the ball into Harris. They threw the ball over her head a couple of times. She is only 6 foot 2 inchers tall and some of those passes were to high for her to catch. We missed a couple of bunnies inside. They did a good job of shutting down our three point attempts. They just wanted it more than we did. They were just the better team today than we were. Hats off to Louisville.

It is kind of funny that our record this year is better than last year. This year's team and last year's team made to the semi final game in the ACCT. We were able to host last year, but for some unknown reason Creme keeps saying the other day we would probably stay at the 5 seed which does not make any sense to me. If Duke should win tomorrow it will be interesting to see if they will move Duke up to a 2 seed. If not then we know the committee is bias towards the ACC. This would not surprise me because of the way they did FSU football team two years ago when they went undefeated and they still did not make the college playoffs.

You may be right but who else can generate a shot against a tough physical defense?
Agree. She drew fouls and actually got decent looks. On the other hand, LH had no counter when she was ran off the 3-point line.

It’s funny how the PTB aren’t recognizing Duke & State are comfortably moving pass us in all major revenue sports. It’s sad as avid fans saw it coming for years, but we continue to live in the past!

Maybe they are just some fans that will never openly admit that their rivals have passed them.

Louisville up 4, with the ball, decide they want to choke the ball game away. They have no shot now because there will not be a call of any kind against Duke.
Speaking of that, the refs gave dook a full 7 seconds to inbound the ball with under a minute left in regulation, similar to what happened with 10 seconds left Tuesday night in the Smith Center. The next time we get a "call" like that go our way will be the first.

Hats off to Duke. They got the job done. I am curious to see if Duke will get a number 2 seed now. IMO, they should they won the ACCT and the regular season. Let's see how much respect our ladies teams will get by the NCAA selection committee as a conference overall. We know how they screwed FSU in Football two years ago when they had an undefeated season and they got snubbed from making the college playoffs.

We may be a 1000% better than the dookies, but they got the wins. So 1000% better on paper, I guess. We can whine about bad referees and favoritism and gawd-knows-what-else, but if we're smart, we'll take a lesson. In the arena, no excuses. Get. The. Win. You have to want it. You have to want it bad. You have to FOCUS and not let bad calls or your own bad plays get in your head.

This is all MENTAL. A mind-set.

I don't honestly know if mental toughness is something a player either has or doesn't have, or, if it's something that can be instilled with good coaching.

But whatever it is, we need it!

Who are the WARRIORS on our team, going into the Big Dance?

We are a couple of hours away from our semifinal matchup with Louisville. They are ranked #12 (UNC #16), and are 26-6 on the season. The #2-seeded Cardinals made short work of #7 Syracuse 87-61, putting six players into double figures.

The starting lineup is basically what has been the case for most of the season: Tatianna Roberts, Laura Ziegler, Elif Istanbulloglu, Mackenly Randolph, and Anaya Hardy. Against the Oranges the Cards shot 55.9% from the floor and 41.2% from three. They won the rebounding battle 43-34.

By the time our game starts – 2:30 PM and still standard time – we will know who our opponent will be if/when we reach the championship game. It will be either Notre Dame or dook. For me, I would rather it be the Irish and not a third meeting with dook.

Carolina is still seen by Charlie Crème as a 5 seed. Their ranking has hovered just below the cutoff for hosting, and do not appear in the Top 16 Committee ranking. UNC has a NET of 19 but a WAB of 14. A win vs. Louisville should be enough to put the Heels in as a host.

We are told that this will be the 30th time Carolina has reached the semis of the ACCT. That’s the most of any school.

Go Heels!
I'm not up on the inside workings, so I'm asking here. Is there a reason T Henderson isn't playing? I saw her once and she was very impactful. Was it just a mirage:)

We just have to regroup and get ready for the NCAAT. We must take it one game at a time. We have to play to our standard. We have to bring the effort, rebounding, etc.

I do not understand why BT is not playing. The young lady is 6 feet 5 or 6 feet 6. She can get some rebounds and alter shots especially when we are in a zone. I do not care if she plays at least 5 minutes. Also, CB had Toomey out for long stretches. This affects rebounding when she is not in there. I would suggest that we mix things up some. Have a rotation of Toomey, Blanca ,TQ and NH in through out the entire game. It does not matter what the combinations are, but at least have two of them in. When we go to small ball, that is when we get killed on the boards. CB and staff must figure out which is more important, small bound with no rebounding or some two bigs in to help with rebounding. IMO, I think the team that we are playing will dictate that.

we were getting killed when Toomey was on the game. Her +/- was -10, leading the team in 20 min of play. She was 0-2 for 0 points, 1 Reb, 2 fouls, 3 turnovers. Not her day. On this particular day the Queiroz/Harris combination fared better.

Thomas in this particular game would have been a step further in the wrong direction. Louisville was playing fast. Istanbulluoglu would be a tough matchup for Thomas due to her ball handling, And when Thomas got switched it would have been worse.

So 3397char what do you suggest because Tarboy and I both agree that when we play small ball, the other teams are able to get 2 or 3 offensive rebounds in a row underneath their basket. If we want to go far in the NCAAT then rebounding is going to be crucial moving forward. This is how Stanford beat us when we played them.

I am seriously worried about rebounding on next seasons team. Hopefully Bofia can rebound well.

Maybe Toomey or Thomas will get stronger. Toomey's best spot might be a big 4.

A lineup of Bofia(if good), Taliyah Henderson and Nyla Brooks would maybe be a good rebounding front court.

We have been giving up too many 2nd and 3rd shots to the other teams.

Kate Harpring might be a good rebounding guard that could help out.

Bottom line I do not know the answer at this point.

A lot to think about Lol.

I think TQ and TH are good rebounders when they play. I put a thread on Bofia, she is suppose to be an elite rebounder and shot blocker. She is 6 feet 4 which is a good size to have along with Toomey and BT. Bottom line, BT is the key. She is 6 feet 6 and I think Toomey looks like she is 6 feet 5. CB stated this on one of her podcast. BT must get into shape, she has a lot to do over the summer. If I was her coach, I would have had work out with the Cross Country team for conditioning. Take ballet for her agility skills and foot speed. Steph Curry did this when he got to the NBA. Get in the weight room and get stronger. Slime down some, and then work on her jump shot, FT's, and being able to make shots 10 feet and in. Making shots inside, etc.

BT has a nice 15 Foot shot. She is 1 for 1 this year from 3. She has the natural height and size to be a game changer. Coach CB said early in the year that if fully healthy and in game shape she would be a starter.

I think she just has to start fresh and get herself fully in shape for the next season.

Nothing but truth to what you said. Now it is up to Blanca. Does she want to put in the work or is she happy just being a member of the band.

We all share the same opinion on Blanca, she needs to put in a lot of work over the summer. Have to agree with some of the comments which would be beneficial for her to pursue this off season. Same goes for Toomey, which a lot of her problems stem from not being able to play for two years. She mentioned this is the best she has felt physically in a long time, next step is to get into the gym and get stronger.
Blanca needs to lose some weight and as some have stated needs to work on her agility and overall game to become the force which many of us expected from her coming out of HS as one of the most sort after recruits in the country.

First, UNC finished #1 in conference play in rebounding margin. I don’t think the problem is as pronounced as you portray it. We certainly did have a couple of very recent games with bad rebounding numbers. But overall, tops in the ACC.

second while Stanford was +4 on us in Offensive rebounds, they had a total of 3 2nd chance points. I don’t think offensive rebounds lost that game. Of bigger concern was 21% from three, 60% on FTs and allowing them to shoot 45%, our worst defense number on a bubble team or lower all year. Toomey & Thomas collectively played 43 minutes; there was no small ball.

third, it is too late in the season to tinker with lineups and strategy. It is win-or-go-home time. What you built over the last 30 games is what you got.
