I've seen some snide comments on the Alumni Party on this board, especially when compared to the Dog Pound Party. Probably not fair to compare those two events considering they were aimed at different groups of people. The Alumni event was probably 80% couples whereas the comments I have heard from people at the other event seemed to make me believe it was more singles.
I thought the Alumni event was outstanding and exceeded every expectation I had. In fact my friends basically had to make my wife and I go because we thought it was going to be lame.
Yes it was crowded as hell but how can you complain about TOO MANY bulldog fans showing up. There was really only one bar that was trouble and if you drank beer (@ $4 is a great NYE price) then you had no more than a 5-7 minute wait.. Go anywhere else on NYE and if it is a good bar you will have at least that much of a wait. If you were drinking cranberry vodka's then sure you had a 15 minute wait..
The dance floor was slammed packed at over 700 people from at least 9:30 pm to 12:30 am.. Somebody there told me that at 2,500 people they stopped counting and then around 11:00 the fire marshal made them stop letting people in for 30 minutes. The River City Brewing company does this party for one of the two Gator Bowl teams each year and they have never had this many people show up.
My one complaint is that any party planner should know that women refuse to use porta johns so they one indoor bathroom was a 30 minute line which sucked for the girls and my wife actually stopped drinking to avoid having to go to the bathroom again.
