Remember the things Larry said when he hired Croom? He talked of the day he returned to Starkville from Green Bay and telling MSU brass something to the effect of "the search is over - I have found someone that can represent our university". Larry talked about character and being a face for the university. And oh yeah he's a football coach too.

None of that struck any chords with me at the time. It never occurred to me that football coaching would rank low on the required skill set, even if it was one Larry Templeton who was doing the hiring. In hindsight, we should have been tightened our sphincters from the start.

in comes the new coach with the tag line that he is going to build character and do things the right way first...oh and by the way... we may start winning in a few years. i think so many people wanted the nice guy to win that they forgot that nice guys lose as often, if not more often, than jackasses.

but golly gee the sheep sure do feel better inside for hiring a guy who constantly tells the fans they don't know what they are talking about, that the players are the problem, and that all he needs is a few more years.
