The Ark Game Will Be The Most Important Game In Levee's Career

This game (which is very winnable) will tell us what we need to know. After three games of coaching malpractice in critical situations, will Levee be able to focus and rally the team and redeem himself? Is he still able to inspire trust in the players, even though they know he has cost them victories? It obvious the team is bought in and plays hard for him (and he has the team prepared), but any HS coach in MS wins the game against TX and at least has us lined up to kick a FG against UF.

Win this game and pull an upset over one of the final three (earning a bowl game) and there will a lot of optimism/momentum for next year. Lose this game and the greatest likelihood is we end the season 4-8 with three head scratching losses, there will be little excitement for next year.

Just to attend the games (not counting transportation and other expenses) we pay almost $4,500 for two tickets (BC donation, parking, club seats, etc.) to buy those tickets on the secondary market would be about half. If we lose out, we (long time season ticket holders) may be out. We'll still be fans, but maybe not season ticket holders.

If we lose tomorrow and finish 4-8, you have to wonder if the big NIL donors are going to see this season as a terrible money pit and cut back in 2026.

Lebby, who appears to be set to return next year no matter what, has to show them something or the talent will be worse next year and the schedule not really any easier.

100%. Tomorrow is more for less a must win.

I feel like this is a must win for him and for the team......I think most are very happy with how competitive we have been and how we have been in the games.....but naturally frustrated how we have not been able to finish the deal........so this is really a must win

.....Also, Shapen needs to not talk smack on the field to his own fan base (the little hand chirp he did last week made no sense to me)

I think Lebby's going to turn out to be a good HC in the long run (if he will learn from his mistakes), I just hope we didn't get him a stop tooo early.
He’s 2years in & still making the same mistakes. And recruiting is getting worse not better (so far). That’s not a good sign.

I'm more concerned about the portal, recruiting may still be important, but we will lose or win based on portal evaluations.

I'd find the number two man in Kiffin's portal evaluation team and hire him. Joe Judge has NFL experience, so he may be helping with evaluations.

Yeah. This portal class will be crucial.

I don't believe State would move on from Lebby after the season regardless. However Listening to two our podcast today, it seems both think this is a must win this weekend.

Must win as in terms of support from fans/boosters/recruiting.

Are they greasing the tracks to get everyone in tune if things get ugly tomorrow and the remaining weeks?

Maybe I'm over analyzing what they said.

I don't think the university will move on from Lebby no matter what happens tomorrow but I think the fans certainly will. Season ticket sales were bad this season, they'll be giving them away free with Happy Meal purchases at McDonalds next season if we lose tomorrow

You think you might be a tad melodramatic?
No, I don't think so. If we lose tomorrow, we probably finish 0-8 again and Lebby's seat is scorching next year with lower talent and a schedule that (despite what some people say) is not any easier. Firing at some point next November would seem quite likely.

But if he wins, he might start building some real momentum.

Who is going to play QB next year? Thats what I want to know - Kromenhoek will likely transfer and doesn’t sound like KT will be ready to run the damn RPO well enough to win v SEC defenses. Sooooooo, does that mean we bring in another QB via the portal?

Would Mullen have won the UTenn, Florida and Texas games?
Yes, unless Saban had become their coach overnight.

I seem to remember that he somehow managed to lose the South Alabama game that one time though.

He's getting year 3 no matter what (barring an off field issue), but if we end up 4-8, there will be zero momentum and donations will likely dry up, meaning less money to sign players out of the portal, leading to another 4-8 type year and Levee being fired in Nov 2026.

Damn, that was a long sentence. I'm now drunk, BTW.

I think at least two of the three and certainly would have won the Texas game. Hell, any of us would have won the Texas game. I'm not over that, if you can't tell. :)
But could you have gotten us to the point where it was winnable? Sure, he blew a 17 point 4th quarter lead, but most coaches never would have gotten that lead. He just needs to learn how to finish.

Seems wildly untrue. Arch and Texas have been overrated all year. The week before they beat us in overtime, they were in overtime against Kentucky, and they lost to Florida by a bigger margin than we did.

No doubt, I've said before, the team is well prepared and plays hard for him, but you don't have to be a football savant to finish a game when you have a 17 pt lead in the fourth.

Run the play clock down to 2 seconds before the snap and hand it off three times, that's over 2:30+ per drive - if you don't make a first down.

He will be back next year. We have doubled last year’s win total if we don’t win another one. It’s also going to be an absolutely insane coaching carousel. This is NOT the year for us to be in the market.

Yes, everyone understands he'll be back next year. Lose tomorrow and it is a 4-8 season, meaning no excitement and less donations to buy players for the 2026 season. This will result in a 4-8 in 2026 and his firing. So tomorrow, he's actually playing for the 2027 season.

I agree that he's likely back next year, but who cares whether it's an "insane coaching carousel" or not? It could easily be another one next year and the year after that. When it's time to make the change, make the change. There will always be successful and hireable G5 and FCS coaches out there.

Massive game. We need this game and another badly if we want decent talent to give us a look and/or stay. The worst thing that can happen is we lose out and the money/talent regresses. We have to somehow find our way into the postseason to change our program perception. Otherwise, it's a slow death for Lebby.

Petrino is a better gameday coach than Lebby. Petrino has more experience and actually has sec wins under his belt already.

You would think Lebby would be thankful that the administration is sticking with him when other coaches that he looked up to got fired.
