Everybody outside of *crest calls them the 'ASTERISK'.....if they lose to SP this year, will they begin to refer to themselves as this as well?
*crest is called the ASTERISK because they claim a 2003 state championship that never happened. You see, a decade and a little more ago, SP dominated *crest in such a fashion that women went home and beat their cousin-spouses in BS town, and the local green ponds in BS turned red with envy and blood. The bloodshed was due to the rape that occurred on the field. The players and coaches went for their weekly bath in the local ponds, and such the legend of the red pond, post SP game event was born. Since the anal leakage epidemic began in 2003, only gingivitus has claimed for BS resident lives since then.
But, the ASTERISK. Oh, the ASTERISK. 03 *crest team was beaten so mercilessly that all they could do was hope for an easy road in the playoffs all the way to the state championship game. *crest got their easy road, and claimed victory in a state championship game, but around the state and in the hearts of the players and coaches from the armpit of western NC, they all knew deep down that they weren't champions of anything. A smaller, more tradition rich team was the real 3a champ in 2003. The disputes cannot be heard. Nary a *crest fan will dispute it. *crest beat a team on that last day of play, but they were not the 3a champions. They were the runners up in 3a. That game defined who and what *crest is: the asterisk.
A life long player second fiddle to the glory and tradition to Shelby High. A new rivalry re-made in the 2000s with another storied program that could not be mounted: SP. Life long little brothers, n'ever do wells and wanna bes. The nickname of your program has been well earned. It's a way of life in Boiling Springs, NC.
You say "why bring up something over 10 years ago, guy"? Because history is made and remembered. Tradition is earned and kept. Battles are fought and won. A$$ whippings are dealt out and this year, the ASTERISK avoided one....but you will not avoid the second one in about a week and a half. Come get you some you bunch of homeless and half heteros. Put that pink camoflauge on and see if you got what it takes down low in your pants to meet SP on the field and prove you can be better than them for more than 2 hours of your life. Because at this point, you have about 2 hours proof that you are better and SP has about 45 G D years.
