One common factor between the two teams is their head coaches. It’s a player versus coach situation. Cogdill from East Burke was the offensive line coach at Burns when East Rutherford Russ played high school football. The stigma surrounding the rivalry isn’t as bad as some may believe. I think mutual respect is shown by both coaches, and they both expect their respective teams to have the “GATA” mentality. I would describe both coaches as “Players-Coaches.” They have different styles and systems, which should make for an interesting game. I particularly enjoyed the matchup a few years ago when the coaches faced off as county rivals. I expect an initial chess match-like game between the two coaches. East Burke will likely come out with purpose and a coach who wants to demonstrate his mentorship. On the other hand, East Rutherford will probably focus on running until 8 or more players come to the box, then let QB1, who now has over 6,000 career passing yards, take over. It should be a fun game to watch as two guys who know each other well challenge each other. My pick is East !! I favor the “Red” Cavs, by ???.. whatever Simmons ratings suggest.
