Week six already! This season is on the downhill slide! It won’t be long and we’ll be talking about the playoffs. For now though, the Battlefield is deep into District play. For the most part, it looks like tis going to be a one team show. That could change on any given Friday night so don’t miss any!

Let’s set the week up.

Caroline Bye Week

The Cavaliers take the week off to regroup. They’ll be back next week hitting on all cylinders!

Chancellor @ Courtland

I can’t believe I am saying this. Neither of these teams have a W this season! That’s right … neither!!! That’ll end for one of them this week. Courtland has been close a couple times but has yet to pull one off. Chancellor has shot themselves in the foot on multiple occasions. The Chargers have been bit by the injury bug and are down to a freshman QB. Additionally, their youth really shows. The last time they were this young was four years ago and the results of that season showed what youth does against veteran squads. The good news is as a squad they are working really hard to get better every week. So, what about this week? The game is at Courtland. Prudence says the Cougars are the favorites. Sorry, I am going to lean the other way. The Chargers are on the verge of putting it all together. Chancellor with the W.

Eastern View @ Spotsylvania

I am impressed with Spotsylvania this year. They are making everyone take notice. Eastern View is loaded and on a mission. Not a whole lot to say about it other than the Cyclones won’t be denied. Eastern View gets the W and continues their roll.

King George @ James Monroe

This past week at Chancellor JM showed they will continue to TCB. They have what it takes to be a contender. King George can get it done too but I see them having more of a down year than not. The Jackets are going to continue their march this week. JM with the W.

Good luck to the players and the coaching staffs! Your hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated. Time is running out on this season. Get out and cheer your favorite team on!!!

Just a few thoughts I have been pondering. This is a strange year for my old eyes in the Battlefield. It looks like the balance of power has done a 180 turn. Teams that have been top tier contenders in the past are now struggling to find their first W and the season is half over. I have witnessed just about every team in the Battlefield go through a “rebuild” period of some sort over the last 18 seasons. Some worse than and longer than others. Is what I am seeing now a period where multiple teams are going through the same thing at the same time? The Chargers and Foxes are young this year … again! Courtland was young last year; is it just not translating to this year? EV has a very mature squad and hopefully it will translate to next year as well. Has it just been a slow start for JM? Spotsy and Caroline are both showing improvement and I have to say that makes me smile. Both of these schools have a lot of talent. Maybe they figured out how to get that talent on the field. And let’s not forget two schools having new coaching staffs. For my viewing pleasure, I want to see every team in the Battlefield have good seasons and be competitive both in and out of District play. Am I asking too much?

Just thoughts folks. What about yours?

Courtland is winless but the teams they've played are collectively undefeated. I don't see the chargers D having an answer for White to be honest. If Kozlow is playing we've got a chance.
