2nd and 5. UT has called their last timeout. We need to run the clock. UT stacks the line if scrimmage.

Tyler audibles to max protection and 2-man pass route. Takes FE snap, rolls, avoids pressure, patiently waits for Bump, side arms a perfect pass for 20-whatever yards.

Smart.

Tyler Russell is THE best QB MSU has ever had. And he is certainly better than Tyler Bray.

We've had more athletic QBs. We've never had a guy that could manage and throw like this. Several times every game he is making NFL throws. He puts the ball right in the middle of where the holes are in zone coverage - just over the linebackers and just underneath the safeties. He spits tight double coverage and threads the needle. He zips balls past defender's ear hole. Dude is amazing.

I agree 100% flab. We at MSU are not used to having a real QB. People don't like it because he can't run. That is what we are used to. This kid is special, and if he doesn't get hurt, he will play pro football. I hate to bring it up, but I hope he sticks around for his senior season. Matt Millen made a comment during the game, something like "it's not that his (Russell) recievers are that open, it's just that he is extremely accurate"

He has the gifts of size, big strong arm, and accuracy. He has improved TREMENDOUSLY on his decision making. I am not going to nitpick on anything in that game because overall it was a top 3 single game performance of an MSU QB I have ever seen.

I agree that he is on track to be the best QB we've ever had

Tyler would have started his freshman year at a lot of schools in the SEC. His decision making progress is due to playing time. We are lucky to have him, and we are lucky he stayed.

Mullen in the post game show said that they had 2 audibles for that play. Said Tyler saw what the defense was doing and came up with a 3rd audible, the play that he called. Said that Tyler has that freedom and the coaches trust him. I don't know that we have ever had that at qb.

Last night is one of the first nights that I thought our team moved the ball like all the major high scoring
teams do. It was great seeing the team move the ball, receivers catch what is thrown, RB blow by the line...If Tenn had one of the top passing games in the SEC then last night we proved we do to.

The best Tyler also had the best OL...

..what astonishes me is how well the MSU OL pass protects. Sure, they have their occasional breakdowns, but on the whole they are one of the best pass protection units in the SEC. And everybody was saying the OL was going to be the weak spot of this team. Talk about inaccurate predictions.

It shows Mullen can be successful with a runner or thrower, in looking how vastly different Russell and Relf are and how much our O is different. Granted there are some other personel differences other than just QB.
