I think a lot of folks on here may enjoy this website - The Bitter Southerner. www.bittersoutherner.com

I'll quickly sum it up - a year ago a small group of proud Southerners got pissed off when no Southern bars were recognized among the Top 50 in the World by Drinks International. They hatched a plan to publish a weekly story on the South - each Tuesday it arrives in your inbox. It's often about Southern cocktails, music, Southern Fiction, a proud company thriving in a rural southern locale, etc. I only discovered it about 2 months ago and signed up for their weekly story to be delivered to my inbox. This week they celebrated their 1 year anniversary and are moving into phase 2 to figure out how to make their efforts profitable. I'm not here to recruit you buy their stuff though I will admit that I joined at a mid range level to show my support, but would encourage you to peruse the site and see it for yourself. The stories are free, all 52 of them published this year. I would highly recommend starting with their first story from 8/6/13 that highlights why they launched, see what others might be of interest along the way, and then read the one they released this week celebrating their 1 year anniversary. My opinion is that you'll find the launch story has a bit of a Six Pack feel to it. To make it about sports, one of the stories was about Hank Aaron.

I've included the Mission Statement they published this week to pique your interest. Enjoy.
[h=3]The Bitter Southerner exists to support anyone who yearns to claim their Southern identity proudly and without shame — regardless of their age, race, gender, ethnic background, place of origin, politics, sexual orientation, creed, religion, or lack of religion.[/h][h=3]To do our part, we will focus our work on the two things we do best: telling stories and convening discussions, 24/7 in the online world and every chance we get in the real world — for the sake of the story and for the love of the South. [/h][h=3]And in the process, we’ll have a drink or two.[/h]

It's legit, lot of folks out of Atlanta. A few Oxfordians mixed in but what can you do. I know one of their writers. Cute girl, great writer.

I recommend.
