if the NCAA expands to 96. That's a point I haven't seen mentioned.

Also, I love how the talking heads on ESPN say a team is in or out and everyone takes it as gospel.

What's the difference between watching teams 60-70 (or whatever) battle for the last few spots and watching teams 90-100 battle for the last few spots?

I agree expansion is a bad idea, but I don't think the excitement over bubble watching is why. There will always be a bubble.

to see if South Carolina's first round tourney loss keeps them out of the tournament.

I haven't seen a mock bracket, but I imagine we'll be debating the merits of some really, really bad teams.

I was just thinkingas long as there is a bubble there will be bubble watching. And as long as they don't allow everyone in, there will be a bubble.

I too have wondered what a mock 96 team bracket would look like. I can't imagine that it would help the cause of those on that side of the debate. The bubble teams always seem to be around 50 on the RPI. So, if you add 31 to that they'd be around 80. So the bubble teams would be powers like Portland and Fairfield. 7-13 in the Big East St. John's would almost definitely be in.

Okay, I guess that would diminish the bubble watching quite a bit.
