in order to limit the damage to recruiting. By having meetings over a period of days, with no announcement one way or the other, it's obvious they've been working on buyout arrangements.

He's gone.

Now the question becomes whether AU is willing to buy his *** out without stipulations that would prevent an arrangement with state.

kelly, peterson, and patterson aka the Holy Trinity, but honestly, how do you feel about tuberville? I would say he is the best of the "retreads", and might have the biggest chip on his shoulder of any coach we bring in.... i am curious about your thoughts, shmuley.. FWIW, tubs is probably my first choice after the holy trinity.

that guy has won games, period. He gets run off from Aubie, he will definitely have a chip on his shoulder. Should we happen to pick him up, it would be quite comical to see the chain of events. He would definitely win the in-state recruiting war against Nutt. He's got a helluva personality and it's hard not to like him if you ever meet him. He would not have to deal with Lowder looking over his shoulder every minute. And we would immediately become hated by everyone-Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Florida,.

So looks like a fit to me!</p>

The pros for Tubs are ...

1. Zero learning curve;
2. Instant credibility with recruits;
3. Knows Mississippi;
4. Tendency to adapt to fit talent;
5. Would drive UMiss people nuts;

The cons:

1. Getting older (54), slowing down;
2. Personal problems/distractions;
3. Reportedly not real aggressive recruiting any more;
4. Not as hands on as he should be with his staff;
5. Constantly in turmoil with admin (may not all be his fault);

Honestly, I could live with him, but I prefer that he be Plan B behind Petersen, Patterson, Kelly (my #1).

and his perceived "fire" are what seems to be most people's concerns... I would love to see him come to MSU with a point to prove, even if it is for 5 or 6 years only...... every week in the SEC west would be a team that he has a personal vendetta against..... just saying.
