If it's Wednesday - of SEMIFINALS WEEK - and you still have three teams still alive ... you might just be the Chicago Catholic League. Don't think anyone was expecting this group of three to still be alive at this point, but if there's anything that has proven to be accurate at making predictions this year, it's been the GAMBLE-TRON 2000:

There are many people in the world who really don't understand, or say they don't, what is the great issue between the public schools and the Catholic League. Let them come to Glen Ellyn. There are some who say that public schools are the wave of the future. Let them come to Glen Ellyn. And there are some who say in the Catholic League and elsewhere we can work with the public schools. Let them come to Glen Ellyn. And there are even a few who say that it is true that the IHSA is an evil system but it permits us to make economic progress. Lass' sic nach Glen Ellyn kommen. Let them come to Glen Ellyn.

Freedom has many difficulties and the CCL is not perfect, but we have never had to put a Success Factor up to keep our people in, to prevent them from leaving us. I want to say, on behalf of my fellow Catholic Leaguers, who live many miles away , who are far distant from you, that they take the greatest pride that they have been able to share with you, even from a distance, the story of the last 104 years. I know of no town, no city, that has been besieged and that still lives with the vitality and the force, and the hope and the determination of the city of Wilmette. While the Multiplier is the most obvious and vivid demonstration of the failures of the IHSA system, for all the world to see, we take no satisfaction in it, for it is, as your Mayor has said, an offense not only against history but an offense against humanity, separating families, dividing husbands and wives and brothers and sisters, and dividing a people who wish to be joined together.

All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Wilmette, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words "Ich bin ein Rambliner"

Nothing short of amazing what's happening with the cats in Plainfield. I'll take the Friars and the points. All this talk this week of '79 should fire up those Rooneys. Friars 30 Cats 29

In '75 had the Hilltoppers got past Deerfield, they'd have played LA in the semi. And in '14, had LA got past Stevenson, it could've been a semi matchup. Alas, we had to wait until this year to see the clash of the titans.
With 3 impressive playoff wins behind GBW this year, the Gamble-tron 2000 needs some re-calibration. And I know experts are saying that the cold, wind, rain and mud will limit the Ramblers' offense, but I'll go with them in another nail-biter. In case they go to OT, what's the nearest asylum?

As far as STL is concerned, I will drop a nickel "value-play" on the money line. An upset-minded Vikings squad catching 20 would payout 8-1. Ignazio, if the Norseman throw an upset in the state capital, just cut my $4K winning check to the STL "leadership" fund. LMFAO
