I heard last night that a bunch of the Cigar Boys were at the game and saw first-hand the mess we have on our hands......not only the loss, but the fact that most of the State fans there left at half-time. They had an informal meeting after it was over and have a few "recommendations".

Their "recommendations" to Byrne are:
(1) Carroll doesn't start another game this year
(2) McCorvey to be replaced immediately
(3) Croom is gone if he doesn't adhere to 1 & 2, and if things don't improve he's gone in December

Rumor? Maybe....but my sources are in-the-know....Guess we'll know for sure on Saturday

and that's a big IF, I'm cool with 2 and 3. However, the cigar boys and everyone else who wants to tell our coaches who to play can kiss my ***. Croom and every other coach that we have on the field have a job to do, and it is their responsibility to have the right people on the field and call the right plays. That's what they're hired to do. If they can't get it done, then solve this issue at the root of the problem and let them go.

our offensive line being young and woody McCorvey. We have to have better offensive imagination when you get to the goal line and cannot score. We all knew Dixon was going to get the ball; but if your offensive line cannot do its job, Dixon cannot do it all.

Coach Croom would be a great coach if he would just be honest with himself and move McCorvey into another position. Let him coach the running backs and let Rocky coach the QBs and be the offensive coordinator until the end of the season.

I also would change the special teams coaching. It has lacked the focus and attention for many years.

our porous OL is.

players last night when they got back in starkville. They preferred Lee all day over Carrol.
The 2 big things they told me

1). Lee is better than Carrol
2). Being 1-3 is all Crxxms fault not the players not even McCorvey.

Well --- players don't get to vote on who gets to play. And --- this is just BS

They are just mad that they are putting up money to fund this crap. I doubt Croom will be fired and it would be a blessing if Woody would resign, but Woody is just taking orders from a coach who is clueless on running an offense. Hell, teams like Baylor look better coached on offense than us. The next two are going to be bad and by then Middle Tenn will probably have a better mental attitude than us. The entire offensive scheme is a joke and we have no idea how to call plays. I love Rockey, but if he is the best we have, we are in deep doo-doo.

funny, because most were NOT at the game because we didnt beat auburn. And Carroll will start, but McCorvey is the only IF about the remainder of the season.

I guess they can since your not pouring money to keep up a horrible football team, with a horrible *#!$%@% coach. McCorvey is gone BTW. Croom HOPEFULLy, not far after.

FYI, my source is a higher up in the BC. He didn't directly say "the Cigar Boys", but by the description, it is my understanding that is who he meant (maybe he meant BC decision makers....doesn't matter really, as long as the end result is the same). As I said in my post, it could be a rumor (and last time I checked, they are encouraged), but this guy doesn't spread b.s. If you think its junk, move on or be ready to eat crow if it turns out to be true.

Maybe Coach will confirm if his source is theBC as well. There was mention of the buyout in the works, as you said, (depending on how Croom handled McCorvey and Carroll and the rest of the season).

I wasn't drinking the Crool-Aid last year when we went 8-5 because we were 3 plays away from being 4-8 (Auburn Goal Line Stand, Bama Interception, Coach O's Infamous Decision and/or Pegues Punt Return). We have a serious problem at State of putting all our eggs in the basket when there's a glimmer of hope with a player or coach. How many quarterbacks have played great for a few games and then we won't bench them. Croom was 3 plays away from another horrible season last year and we give him a raise. Yeah, the people that have been throwing large amounts of money into the football program are probably fed up. What a way to spend the first of the ESPN money....buying out a contract that should have never been signed.

I never said that I agreed that the money men should be calling the shots about who plays and who starts. I do think Croom is stubborn and needs some help. What coach goes out and says that he thinks we'll compete for the SEC Championship and a BCS bowl, then starts a season like this. He either can't evaluate talent, or can't coach the talent he has. Theoretically, we could still do both. If you believe we can win at Death Valley and the rest of our SEC games and Auburn loses one more.....then we win the SEC CG......then yes, we'll go to a BCS bowl. I'll take my odds with the Powerball, thank you.
