The Consensus reminded me about something I wanted to rant about...

Well, just a mini-rant. But did everyone else not notice in the last 3 or 4 games how blatant the holding has been against our D-line? Specifically, against McPhee. It really has been some of the worst I have seen in a long time. I guess I always watch the line play on Defense, and I seem to usually notice this stuff more than other people that I am watching the game with. But damn, it was bad - I would look down and see his Jersey pulled up past the earhole of his helmet.

Now, I am sure we could have been doing the same thing on offense...but I just haven't seen it as much.

that it is a hold... it's because I look at it through maroon-tinted glasses, though.

I just don't think refs call holding unless its way out in the wide open. I couldn't agree more that our defensive line gets held very badly but at the same time they aren't calling holding on us either. The only holding penalties I have seen were on the wide receivers or on a lineman pulling a defender down.

Houston and Arkansas were the biggest examples this year. It's like they want to protect the 'premier' QB and therefore overlook blatant holding calls.

not just against us but in SEC game total for some reason. It's a penalty I'm used to seeing called about 5-7 times a game but there were games I didn't see it called the entire contest this year.

I see lots of holding and blocking the back in our games and other games that goes uncalled. Seems to be a lot more this year than in previous years. I really think the SEC has made a concerted effort to let more stuff like that go. Matt Wyatt also alluded to that in his pregame radio show on Saturday.
