Derek Dunn was born and raised in Neshoba County, and grew up to be one of the greatest douchebags of all time. It is because of him, that two aspiring douchebags have the opportunity that they have today.

Although Pat Forde and Mike Slive are making their first appearances in the Derek Dunn Douchebag of the Year final, you shouldn't think of either of them as rookie douches. They have been training for this for years.

Fake Pat Forde: "Starkville is a ****** town. Frankly, we're surprised that they have streets to drive their surprising cars to their surprising homes to log on to their surprising computers. Don't get me wrong, we're happy to be where we are. You know as a writer, I've been to all 12 SEC campuses and Mississippi State fans are the worst in the SEC. Excuse me, but I have to go write a story for ESPN about Wisconsin and Michigan and find a way to diss Starkville in it."

Fake Mike Slive: "We think that we have a good shot at this. No other douche in the field was as indirectly responsible as I was from keeping MSU out of a bowl game and the NCAA Tournament. I even got my C-USA counterpart involved during that Houston game. We had plans to screw MSU in baseball, but they did a good job of that themselves."

Back to Morgan Freeman: Over 2000 votes have been casted in this year's DDDY, and we are down to two.

In the end, it has to be Slive. He has directly impacted Mississippi State in a negative way, and will probably do so again in the future. Not to sell Forde's douche-ness short, it's monumental, but he will never do that. Plus, we seem to have friends in Bristol now, so anything he says will get countered by Berthiume (sp?) on a much grander stage (I've got to believe more people watch SportsCenter than read Forde's stuff).

He seemingly goes out of his way to poke fun at Starkville. Starkville is not the only small BCS town, but you never hear anyone making fun of Ames, Pullman or Clemson. Just Starkville. It has gotten old. If I could make a good living for my family, I would move to Starkville tomorrow. This guy went to Mizzou (an Ole Miss-type school) and honestly thinks he is better than everyone that did not go to Missouri's renowned journalism school.

You know where I would not live? Louisville. Where that ******* lives.

Slive is the current commissioner of the SEC. I don't think he's any more anti-MSU than anyone else. It was just a bad year for us and officiating in important situations. Although I believe that he pushed Florida over us in the NCAA Tournament, I find it hard to believe that he didn't push for us to be the fifth team. More teams=more money. The guy is about money, which is pretty douchy if you think about it.

Do I go with the Commissioner of the SEC who is paid by the SEC to work for them and then acts the way he does towards one of his employers or do I go withthe sports reporter who gets treated to freebie stuff by MSU along with the rest of the media folk?

In the end, I have tovote forMike Slive. We do pay him after all. Pat Forde may just get indigestion from the free food he gets from visiting MSU, so I think if we give him some Tums with his free meals he might just treat us better.1

just because every time bad officiating happened to us, he never said anything. Actually he denied most of the bad officiating occurred. However, when other teams in the league seemed to get screwed he apologized. That and the fact that he looked like he'd rather be getting tortured than be at our basketball game when JV broke the record. Forde is a major douche, though.

I was having a hard time making a decision here. Until I figured out that "douchebag" doesn't properly describe Forde. Forde is an *******.

A douchebag gets on your nerves because he either does have or purports to have undeserved status. Its not the the douchebag's status that stings, its what he does with it. An *******, on the other hand, gets on your nerves because the ******* is trying to piss you off. A douchebag may also piss you off, but he does so without trying or caring.

A douchebag's feeble actions are worshiped by some and loathed by others. Those that worship or appreciate a douchebag do so only out of self interest that profits from the douchebag's status or the douchebag's coat tails, be it the money and influence that falls out from the crust of Mike Slive's fingernails or the hot tail hanging out with Derek Dunn. Nobody worships an *******, not even those few he doesn't piss off.

An ******* could be easily dismissed as a harmless person desperate to get a rise out of your emotions. A douchebag cannot. A douchebag occupies women you could otherwise be dating. A douchbag just occupying space is often enough to piss a person off. A douchebag pulls strings that rain on your parade either directly or indirectly. Ignoring the douchebag is futile, as his actions are 17'ing up your prosperity. An ******* will go away or STFU if ignored. A douchebag won't because he doesn't care what you think. The douchebag will continue raining Massengill on your otherwise sunny days just because it serves him somehow.

Given this enlightenment, Pat Forde is no douchebag. He's just a major league *******.

I have to go with Slive. As jcdawgman said, he directly impacts MSU and our Wins and Losses. Forde will never have the opportunity to do that. Also, Forde writes columns, so in the tiniest of ways, he has the right to say whatever he wants. Mike Slive is the commish of the 17ing SEC, and he's just not acting professionally, which causes MSU direct grief.

Now while Slive didn't back us on the instant replay bad calls or toot our horn for the Big Dance, sports fans all over the nation saw the replays on tv and made their own decisions about whether we got screwed or not. On the otherhand, you have those same sports fans who have never been to Starkville reading biased articles by Forde blasting us and probably thinking "What a ******** town inhabited by a bunch of losers. Why do I care that they got screwed over by the refs and their commissioner."

ETA: We can win in spite of Mike Slive but how to you change the bad perception of MSU and Starkville that Forde constantly spews to someone who has never been here? Winning doesn't do it. People will just say "Oh that team from that college that throws bottlesin the town that fun forgot won" instead of becoming potential fans. His douchebaggery is on a far greater scale and has longer lasting effects than Slive's.

Make sure to remember when voting that the basketball stuff with Slive happened in 2010. The voting is for 2009. I guess you could count Renardo as 2009 and 2010 since it involved both years. That being said, I still voted for him and nominate him for the DDDY 2010 for KY officiating, sitting on his hands when Jarvis was being recognized, and not stepping in once with Renardo.

After all, the Clemson dude won it in what amounted a few weeks prior to the award (I think the selection begins once we're done with baseball). Also, anything from any point in the past is fair game too. That's why we can consider Forde's entire writing career when it comes to the DDDY. The man is one acid-washed Polo shirt away from this being the PFDY. But when you bring actual harm into the mix then the scales just tip right over in Slive's direction. Like others have said, this is perhaps the first time I really had to give pause and consider the larger douche. I was leaning towards Forde because he doesn't have a connection to State yet he bashes us whenever he can. But in the end I thought of the old saying "actions speak louder than words." While Forde may be a douche in his words Slive is a douche by his actions or lack thereof. Regardless of how this thrilling finale ends, remember this: in the Final Douche-Off, all contestants are winners (douches).

Excellent work on the DDDY, 615. The music background was a nice touch. I'd like to recommend "The Final Countdown" by Europe for next year's finale.

I went with Forde. Slive basically is all about the money. Big schools=big money. Thats his motive. Forde's motive, well, who knows. I guess maybe he thinks its witty or humorous to say lame joke after lame joke. After several unwarranted comments this year to put us in a bad light nationally for no apparent reason, I had to vote for that douchebag Pat Forde.
