I have waited hours to post. I have tried to wait and rethink my ideas...but if we really want to break the game down......the offense tripped all day on their own Johnsons....and more importantly, I thought the defense quit. If you were there for the 2nd half, then you know that we got out coached .....and the D laid down.

That's a problem. Sly has always had a D that over-performed for him....but today it looked like they were dogging...especially in the 2nd half.

Sly......Greg.....its time.

What do you expect them to do? How many times do you expect someone to keep pouring their heart into something only to have some one else **** on them?

in a different key. You are right.....what would we expect them to do? How many games have they kept us in the mix?

'm surprised that they didn't quit earlier.

the remainder of the quarters, they gave up 0 points. I don't know how you can say they quit.

players and depth to stand the pressure our offense puts on them. Plus we just aren`t quite as lucky as we were in that magical 2007 season.

I'm not sure they quit, but we definitely got outcoached. Kentucky ran misdirection plays to take advantage of our overpursuit, and, of course, we did not adjust.

our offense is totally and COMPLETELY dependent on our defense. Most offenses can make up for a subpar defensive outing. Our defense has ZERO room for error. Our defense has bailed us out in the past and has kept us in games this year. Our offense has no other identity than to hope our defense either scores or puts them in position to try a field goal. By the way, should we continue this trend, we will continue to not only have terrible coaches on offense but continue to lose the talented ones on defense. Who in their right mind would want to coach defense here knowing what's going on on the other side of the ball? Certainly not Ellis.

misdirection, counter's, more play action - when we did that it worked. After it worked, I never saw it again. Unbelievable.

How is giving up 14 points in a game quitting? If you can hold a team to 14 points, that is on average better than what 109 defenses could do. The defense easily played well enough overall to win that game. A team with that defense and a decent offense would have won by 14 or more.

It is the defense's fault that we have lost 6 games this year. They have yet to get a pick 6. When is everyone going to quit blaming McCorveya nd Croom it is obvious that Coach Cheese hasn't gotten the MEMO!</p>

...we lost the game in the kicking game.

Just like we lost the Auburn game...because of a ****** kicking game.

If you want to bash Croom on specific letdowns, then bash him on the fact he hasn't recruited a reliable FG kicker.

The defense did their job yesterday; the offense did their job yesterday.

Hell, I'll even go as far as to say Croom did his job yesterday as far as in-game coaching.

The worthless kicker, however, should have his locker cleared out by Monday morning.

if Carlson just makes a chip shot FG, we win 5-3. As bad as we are, if we had even a slightly below average kicker, we'd be 5-4 right now instead of 3-6.

I would say AU ****** kicking game and our defense kept us in it. I always hate it when Croom talks about one play that could change the game, well that works for both damn teams.

I could have sworn the score of that game was 3-2.
Mr. Reliable FG Kicker missed a FG that would have made it a 5-3 State win.

Go back & look at the tape, or whatever.

The reliable, time-worn sixpack mantra: "It's not what we did right; it's what they did wrong."

I don't a flying freak how & when Auburn messed up, because I'm not an Auburn fan.

Since I'm a MSU fan, I'm looking at it from the perspective that Auburn's mistakes should have been capitalized on by MSU, and not the other way around.

But the fact remains, if our FG kicker just wasn't a complete waste of carbon, we'd have taken advantage of Auburn's 2 missed FGs and won the game 5-3.

.....if our offense didn't suck *** so much every year that we wouldn't have to sit here wondering how many games we'd won if our kicker didn't suck.

I don't believe our lack of FG kicker excuses our offense from the Auburn game.

Using your same reasoning, you could just easily say if our defense wouldn't have allowed 3 points, we would have 2-0.

The fact of the matter is if we had a semi-competent offense (a top 75 offense), we would be 6-3 right now Carlson or no Carlson.
