The Difference between a NC-caliber coach and Polk

Sure this isn't everything that tells the difference. But this one simple quote says a lot.

While Polk is out driving himself crazy about the "evil" NCAA and blasting them and over possesing to the point of hurting the team.

Compare to what Auggie at UT says about changes in baseball

But on the NCAA, Garrido says, "They have these ideas from time to time and I just adjust to them because I don't have the time to be on the Policy Committee. The NCAA always is going to do what it wants to do. It's up to me to make the best of it.

why did Polk say Auggie would have won by more if he had not bunted so much.

I heard Polk say this (it is not hearsay) on a radio show right after Texas had won the CWS. The 17'ing CWS, no less. I almost stroked out. I knew then that what is happening was going to happen. The man is crazier than hell.

I hope you were just kidding. If not, please never post about baseball ever again.

--Edited to add that I can safely assume you were just kidding. You have my permission to resume posting about baseball.

Exactly. But the other thing is IF Polk could halfway manage a pitching staff and was a little bit more aggressive on offense, we might be wanting Polk to stay. You win baseball games by playing fundamentally sound baseball- something that has severely dropped off during Polk's second tenure and putting pressure on the other team. Skip Bertman's teams weren't the most fundamentally sound, but he knew when a pitcher was done, and when to get them out of the game. And while he played Gorilla Ball, he would put some pressure on the other team and a lot of times, they would make things happen that would win games.

The other reason we don't have a NC is becuse of recruiting. We need to get better talent in at MSU. We do have a couple of players on each MSU team that truly is "MSU baseball" caliber- for example Easley, Weatherford, and Rea. But the cold hard truth is we have to many guys that don't belong in the SEC- for example Carver, Andy Wilson, etc. and then we have some guys that have some talent but are pussies and don't want to work- for example Ryan Duffy.

That brings me to my next point- We HAVE to have a better attitude as far as wanting to win. Yeah, yeah you always hear "the players want to win worse than the fans" but apparently not with this team. They're OK with sucking as long as everyone is treated well and "having fun" while Chad Crosswhite dances like a ****** to Cotton Eye Joe. That's going to be the biggest challene that the next coach is going to face, becasue some of our players aren't going to want to try to win all the time- and hopefully they will transfer. I do fear mass transfers a la Croom 2004, not because the players are good, but because of depth purposes. I figure it will take 2-3 years (unless Raffo is hired) to get this attitude purged from our team. To someone who enjoys watching good baseball, I find this attitude disgusting- especially since I wasn't good enough to play, because I know that if I had the talent of Brooks Lewis, I would be busting my ***, much less the talent of some of these other losers.

What an arrogant prick Polk is. Garrido has almost as many national titles as Polk has CWS wins and yet Polk's way is the right way and Garrido's way is the wrong one.

An interesting (or maybe not) bit of trivia. In Garrido's first national title year CSF lost their opening game of the CWS to Polk's MSU team. It was the only game we won and (obviously) the only game they lost.
