The difference in basic fundamentals and execution is staggering

WSU handles the ball better, passes better and set picks better on offense.

On defenese they all look like they have a spring in their step, deny the ball well and close out quickly on shooters.

They might be a little more talented in raw athleticism...but I don't think it's by much. But offensively the difference on this team is clearly Dee Bost and I'm curious as to how much an impact he'll make. I think it's going to be huge. But until we solve our defensive problems I'm not sure it matters.

in an area of the country where they learned basic, fundamental basketball skills. Meanwhile, the recruiter is impressed with the winner of the dunk contest.

Share some blame...how many good basketball teams are there in the whole southeast? Not many and it goes beyond the fact that the best athletes generally play football.

If I was the MSU coaching staff, AFTER a kid signs his LOI I'd give them a list of things they better be able to do once they hit campus. Such as dribble with both hands, box out on rebounds, always challenge a shooter with a hand in his face, etc. Make it very clear what the penatlies are that they can't do those things and they'll be expected to practice them until they can do them properly. Meaningyou will stay in the gym afterpractice with GA's until you can do some things right.

Players will ***** and moan...but I guarantee that if you can get just a couple of guys to buy in, they will see their game improve by leaps and bounds and they'll then sell that to all future recruits....that MSU's coachWILL make you a better player.

I think it's clear that we don't expect enough out of our players with their effort. The first time I saw a guy not box out or challenge a shot, he'd come to the bench and be told in front of everyone why he's there and that if the next guy makes the same mistake, he'll take his place. We aren't doing many of things within our control and look undisciplines and unmotivated and that includes the coaching staff.
