Considering their historical mediocrity, it was a magical season...
..if MSU made the Sugar Bowl & got blown out 42-7 by somebody like Kansas State, because of our historical mediocrity in football, we would still deem it a magical season because we made a BCS bowl.

I agree 100%. It probably was magical to them because it was way better than they normally would do. A magical season is simply one in which you exceed expectations, and do something you haven't done before, or in a long time.
OM would view that as a magical season if they did that. They viewed the Legion Field Bowl as a magical season.
They were a bubble team, that went on an SECT run and won 1 game in the NCAA...
That's far from Magical...
The funny thing is they had the talent to make it to the Elite 8 the way they tourney was shaping up for them.
I hope AK gets a lifetime contract...
No worries here, b/c their basketball team will be lucky to get to .500 in the SEC next year.

Their RPI is ~ 47, MSU had better in '95, 96, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 08. Also,
Right now the SEC is the 8th best conference per RPI. When State had it's run of NCAA's under Stansbury, the SEC was #1 in 2002 and 2003, #2 in 2004, #3 in 2008, and #6 in 2009. State accomplished just as much or more several times with a much tougher conference.

It was magical for THEM. Sometimes I wonder if our fans can't see that it is only a slight to us if they then go on to compare that season such as "it was the most magical in MS history, or it was better than any State season."
They took their perrenial bubble team to the third round of the tournament.
Just be happy that our school thinks that their season should be our norm.

There have been 41 12-seeds win their first round game and 20 to win their second round game. There have been 25 13-seeds to win their first round game and 6 to win their second round game.
