The discussion on AD got me thinking about Croom and the draft...

With just a little bit of research as you can see, here is the list of Croom recruits to be drafted:

2007
Antonio Johnson - 5th round

Yep, that's it, a Juco DT drafted in the 5th round. Anthony Dixon will likely be a 4th rounder now and be Croom's 2nd recruit drafted, which will also be his highest ever drafted recruit. I'm not sure who else you have projected this year, if any, and I don't know who you have in the future. I would think Derek Sherrod will be another NFL draft pick, but it's still amazing how few NFL draft picks Croom signed.

Someone can fill in the blanks on who out of your 2006, 2007, and 2008 classes you have remaining that has a shot to be drafted.

but that's precisely why many of us here were glad to see Croom go. He just couldn't win games. We get it. He's gone. Let it go. We both made bad hires in Orgeron and Croom. Let them live the rest of their lives in peace, because it appears we may finally be able to get some if Mullen continues on this path.

you forget one big thing - player development - which Croom was terrible at. We've had players that were capable of playing - Pegues comes to mind - but once they came to Starkville they got NOTHING of substance to help their development. Dixon likely would not have gotten drafted if Croom hadn't been fired. I mean, he never would have had a chance to do anything, you know?

Maybe he was too much of a tweener, but I was surprised he didn't get drafted at a decent spot. He had a load of talent and potential.

You may be right on Dixon too. Being put in a position where he needed to be more of a pass catcher and improve his quickness for Mullen's offense probably improved his draft stock a good bit.

Sherrod and Wright will get drafted next year. So Croom will have 5 at that point. Dixon, Chaney, Sherrod, Wright, and Antonio Johnson.
