Scott Lindsey is a goat. He's just a bagman. Yeah, he's guilty, but it's the people behind him that are making stuff happen. Lindsey is just a douche bag trying too hard to be a part of Ole Miss football. Same with Charles Lee. Don't give him undue credit.

Has the NCAA officially defined what a "booster" is?

If he posts on Ole Miss sites wouldn't it be easy to prove that he is a booster?

Of COURSE the NCAA has defined "booster:

13.02.14
representative of Athletics

interests.

A “representative of the institution’s athletics interests”
is an individual, independent agency, corporate entity (e.g., apparel or equipment manufacturer) or other organization who is known (or who should have been known) by a member of the institution’s executive or athletics administration to:

(a) Have participated in or to be a member of an agency or organization promoting the institution’s intercollegiate athletics program;

(b) Have made financial contributions to the athletics department or to an athletics booster organization of that

institution;
(c) Be assisting or to have been requested (by the athletics department staff) to assist in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes;

(d) Be assisting or to have assisted in providing benefits to enrolled student-athletes or their families; or

(e) Have been involved otherwise in promoting the institution’s athletics program.

Basically, if you have ever worked for the Athletic Department or the Booster Club, ever donated to the booster club, ever assisted in recruiting or in providing benefits to student athletes (officially, not under the table) or the catchall category of "been involved otherwise in promoting the institution's athletic programs".

It is generally not enough to be a "fan", an alum, or a season ticket holder (unless you joined the booster club to buy your tickets), or even a former athlete. You have to actively promote the School's interest by either joining the booster club or somehow participating in recruiting.

If you recall, during the Cam Newton incident, MSU did not know whether Kenny Rogers was a booster or not. He was a former player, but there was no record of him him ever donating to the booster club, or assisting with recruiting. We "disassociated" him with a letter saying that we don't think he's a booster now, and he can never be a booster in the future.

Similarly, if you remember the Tee Martin deal, he was receiving money from a woman in Mobile who was a UT season ticket holder -- but she had never joined the booster club and was not considered a "booster" of Tennessee.

Conversely, when MSU got busted for Sherrill's stuff, one infraction was from an accountant in Hattiesburgh giving fake jobs to High School football players. He was an MSU grad, but he had USM season tickets and did the tax returns for all the USM coaches for free. He had once donated $100 to the Bulldog Club, and included on the subject line "NOT FOR FOOTBALL OR COACH JWS". But, thanks to that donation, he was a booster.

As for "the Driver", he is a booster if he has ever joined the booster club. He could also be considered a booster if he was giving these kids rides to camps with the knowledge of the coaches, but I doubt that could ever be proven.

I know him and his whole family and he doesn't appear to be the type of person who would do anything underhanded or illegal. As a family, they are UM fans, but he was always respectful of MSU.

In The Travis piece he didn't say it was illegal for him to do so. Dr. Summers was adament that Sunday Nkemdiche was qualified and that's why he offered, not for a recruit. MS PEERS looked into it and no one was singled out for wrongdoing. I thinks the takeaway from that connection isn't that Summers is committing illegal activity but that the OM network is very tied together and cohesive

I am positive that Coach Freeze would want us to email this information to Ole Miss compliance.

I've read this page for a long time but have never posted. This however hit home for me. I've witnessed how low down an dirty Scott Lindsey is first hand on multiple occasions. Especially with a couple high profile recruits from Kosy.

You know, "special incentives". Free trips to games, random mid week trips to eat and watch practices in Oxford, cash filled envelopes, free booze, basically whatever you needed to enjoy yourseld. Just your basic stuff. In all actuality most of the guys thought he was a creeper and hardly would answer the phone to talk to him. 5-10 calls a day to a high school kid us borderline stalker-ish.

I mean this was from 05-07 when I saw it happening. I wish I would've has the brains at the age of 16 to point it out. So I doubt much could come out of something from 6-8 years ago, but I was just saying he definitely does some dirty stuff.

Their names are both in the article on 3rdand57. One was a Bear all the way and the other was State until Scott came along and 17'ed it up.

He and his son went with an Ole Miss commit on a trip to another school. They were the one that drove the kid there to be sure and counter anything other school said or did to try and sway them. Dr. Summers is just as caught up in this **** as eveyone else is.

Do Dr Summers, who wants to give Ole Miss's top football recruits' dad a high paying job at an Ole Miss institution, has direct ties to a street agent who has funneled football players to Ole Miss.

HEY BRANDON MARCELLO....or KYLE VEAZEY....get on the case!

Whoever writes this should not include the names of the 2014 recruits. This is obviously written from a MSU perspective and I'm sure many of those recruits (most of which we are recruiting as well) and their parents probably don't appreciate their kids names in ink with an article like this. Did Scott Lindsey not end up at MSU after Milsaps or is this a different person. My point is what he does is b.s. and skirting on impermissible but don't throw mud at kids we are still heavy in on recruiting in freaking march. I know it would piss me off if my sons name was associated with this article. Just not very 17ing smart inky opinion.

If there was someone out there that was misleading your child to making a bad decision, would you not want to be aware of that person?

Why is it assumed that playing football at Ole Miss is a bad decision? It's turned out OK for quite a few players recently.

I think Todd's comment was more along the lines of the kid he steered away from State to Memphis- who is now at a SWAC school

Question of the board - how much do we need to raise to make Lindsey got Byron DeVinner on Ole Miss? Do we have any alumni with Hollywood connections? Could we get Grisham to tease a book deal? What will it take to make Limdsey sing on every available media outlet?
