Also, i fully expect Dylan Favre to take over next season. Relf and Russell just dont appear to have "it". I am encouraged by Relfs improvement. But neither of our more experienced, more highly recruited Qb's looked any where near their QB.

Dude is a freshman, so of course he is going to struggle in his first season. What makes you think Favre would do any better?

Once the previous "real deal" throws a pick or has a bad game, you move on to the next presumably being redshirted "real deal".

Next year, I fully expect to hear how Dak Prescott is the "Real Deal" and is going to take the job from Tyler and Dylan.

Next year Chris Relf will take his mantle as either: "We should have been more patient with him. That dumbass coach. He's really not that bad." OR "Please God graduate, you suck" only to be welcomed back to campus a couple of years later where people will talk about how great you are, a la Wayne Madkin.

The exception to that is if you break collarbone a ton of times and your family poaches animals for fur. In that case, you still suck.

because Tyler went through spring practice as well as the fact that he has had a year to develop as well.

It's a BIG jump from high school to the SEC.

I was watching BYU last night, and their QB was considered the top high school QB prospect in the country- and he struggled BIG time against Utah State. Georgia's RS QB is about as good as could hope for out of a RS freshman QB. Also, last year, Matt Barkley struggled big time at USC, and he had a ton of weapons to work with. Barkley was also one of the top QB prospects in the country as well.

damn I hate MSU fans. We've never had a QB worth a **** because we boo them at the drop of a hat.

a good QB should carry in his belt. In my book, it's right up there with passing, running and leadership. But, I never played QB so what do I know....

but as I have said a thousand times, he is not a spread option QB. Whenever he becomes the starter, we will have to change the offense for him. The option game is a waste when you see him dazzle us with runs like that 2 yard scramble today. We will have to incorporate more I formation and work alot more on the passing game and hot routes

I don't see where he is giving up on him. I thought Tyler made some really nice throws today, and I thought he directed some really good TD drives for us today. All of his mistakes were freshman mistakes that will get better in time. Better to make them now than later. What I want to see from him is improvement.

Also, I don't think it's MSU fans booing QB's that have hurt QB development. I think it's the fact that:

1. We have had poor QB coaching. Exhibit A: Woody McCorvey. Jackie sucked at devleoping QB's as well.

2. We have had running back centered offenses. Croom's, Jackie's, Emory's etc. Now, we have put out some good RB's at least. We've basically only asked our QB's to "manage" the game, or we've put an athleted playing QB like Relf back there, and that's not a good recipe for QB development. But for most of my MSU fan life, it's been give it to (Micheal Davis, Kevin Bouie, Norwood, Dicenzo, Dontae, JJ, AD, etc) about 40 times and ride that horse as far as it will go.

3. We've made poor decision regarding QB development- like burning Omarr Conner's redshirt during a 2-10 season and then shuttling him between WR and QB throughout his career. Also, starting unnecessary two QB systems- see Tyson Lee/Wes Carroll.

4. Recruiting people like Ty Evans, Mike Henig, and other assorted pieces of ****. Thank God Dan pulled the plug on Josh Hollingsworth when he first got here. And yes, I will give Tyson Lee a pass here since he was a walk-on.

5. God bless Kevin Fant. The one QB that we've had that actually looked functional, and then we surround with five fat tubs of lard that can't block, a 300 pound running back in the game for his apparent "superior blocking skills" to Jerious Norwood, receivers that couldn't catch, a Joe Lee Dunn defense that had d-line from Arizona Western, and a bunch of other people that only tackled people after the whistle, and John Micheal Miss a Mile.

he should have thrown 3 picks- not just one. He floated balls around, especially down the field. Their safeties read him well.

He will get better, but he is nowhere near ready to be playing meaningful snaps in SEC games.

and I'm just glad that Dan appears to be willing to do this, unlike his contemporary at Florida. I don't know why Urban won't adjust his offense to Brantley.

I still don't think that Dan will totally abandon the spread concept with Tyler. I think it will be more like a pass first spread with the pro-style/I-formation stuff you mentioned. There may be an occasional option play here and there, though to keep the defense honest.

Tyler in a West Virgina/Rich Rodriguez spread would be disastrous.

We are also going to have to get our new o-linemen to hopefully pass block better than the guys we have now, and I think the WR's and RB's will be there.

To me it all boils down to him not being ready for the speed of the game. He is taking sacks because he is holding the ball too long in the pocket without moving/throwing it away. He's a smart guy though so I think he will figure that out given some playing time and coaching. Relf is the guy this year and we should be gettng Tyler snaps when possible. Which is exactly what we seem to be doing.

there were so many QB's on top 25 teams with barely 100 yds passing but 100 yds rushing. Just the way the game is right now in college football. Relf is playing well.

His decision making on throwing passes is what makes him look really bad but that is something that can (hopefully) be corrected. I want him to do well.

and then he got cold for a little bit- including the pick. I thought the coaches did a good job of making sure that he left with something positive when they called that rollout pass to Sam Williams that went for 30 yards- which is a play that Tyler has done well all year.

This is definately a game that Tyler will learn a lot from. That's really all I want and expect of Tyler this year. He has come a long way since the spring game. I do expect him to be ready to take over next if he has to. I'm not saying that he will take over- I think that depends on Relf, just that he would be able to come in and take over should Relf get hurt or struggle and we need to use Tyler.
