Have you shown a picture of the Chicago skyline from a cornfield out in middle of Illinois? Seems like I only remember the pictures you've posted as all being across an expanse of water.

Well, a 60 mile expanse of water. Also the Isle of Mann from 70 miles away. Also Abu Dabi from 70 miles away. Also the N.O. Superdome from 17 miles away. But, you know...LOOMING, MIRAGE, OPTICAL ILLUSION BLARGH, BLARGH, BLARGH. [eyeroll]

This guy got in a boat in Mich. with Chicago in plain view with his camera and crossed 50 plus miles to prove it was not a mirage.
In plain view?

Seeing the Sears (Willis) Tower which is 1450 feet tall from 40 miles is no problem as the curvature at 40 miles is only 1060 ft...add that your POV is not from ground level. If your eyes are 6ft above the ground that gives you the ability to see another 3 miles. Why is it we can see further the higher our POV?

There are 44 buildings in Chicago over 600 ft tall making them visible from 33 miles away.

Also, it wasn't from 50+ miles...it was 37 miles. Also, why can't we see Michigan from ground level in Chicago?

Superdome is 253 ft tall which makes it visible from 20 miles away at ground level. I can see 7 states from Lookout Mountain...

LOL only 37 miles...no, you're incorrect.
That is what the captain said.

Yeah it's not like either of those things act in predictable ways like being flat and such.
There you go. You're getting onto something there. I've seen a mirage in the desert, but can't recall seeing one in a cornfield.

Are rainbows real in your world? How about double rainbows?

Back to more real world problems. Has anyone made a dent in this debate?

The debate is only for stupid ppl to make noise, there's tons of empirical evidence to prove earth is a sphere. My counter argument would be is the moon flat? And how does earth cast a shadow on the moon if the earth revolves around the sun

Just like earth around the sun, I figured it was time for this thread to come over the horizon again. :)
