Per Veazey about Pegues "It was extremely difficult during that time to recruit top players while we were still on probation," Croom said. "We couldn't even get guys to visit at that time. For him to do that, that was a tremendous boost to get a guy like him into the program. I think in doing so, it helped us with other prospects."

Winston Churchill say: It is hard to get guys to visit for a chance to play on the shittiest offense in the league you lazy bastard.

Ole Miss in the mid 90's was in the same situation, and they recovered quickly.

The NCAA gave Croom a near free pass when they handed down our probation in 2004 - our penalties were nothing compared to what Kentucky and Ole Miss went through. Yet, 4 years later, we still have to hear about how bad we got hit and what an "awful" situation we were in when Croom took over. It made me irate when the announcers started talking about it during the Bama game. Sure, we had problems, but our problems could have been overcome if we had a decent coach.</p>

he missed out alot in Dec and Jan by going back and forth. The thing is, he was a running back coach at GB, do you really think they needed him more than Msu?

recruiting = HARD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probation did contribute to bad recruiting. It hurt Jackie too. Jackie wasn't on probation 2000-2003, but that 3-year witch hunt by the NCAA was just as damaging as probation.

None of this excuses Croom's poor coaching and the fact that he needs to go.

......program in the country. While others at times face much much worse circumstances and somehow find a way to overcome them, MSU makes even the smallest of setbacks sound like an impossible task to overcome.

There's that saying, "Winners win games, losers makes excuses." There's no question which category our program and mindset fit into. It's a damn shame.

You would think you would at least give a visit to a school 's head coach who had some good players coming up to get some roads in that school. Croom didn't have a clue how to be a college head coach when he took the job. He was better prepared for a NFL job than college. College had changed way too much since he had coached. He was behind the 8ball and was too stupid to even know it.

He should have been fired on the spot immediately if for no other reason but not using all of the available sholarships. There is no excuse for that.
